La forêt magique de Fontainebleau.

La forêt magique de Fontainebleau.
April 20, 2015 -  Urs Moosmuller

There aren’t words to describe how beautiful Fontainebleau is. All the hype about the bouldering area being the best in the world is completely true. The climbing is very technical, physical, and mentally demanding with many different kinds of movements and styles.

After almost 2 months of perfect weather in Switzerland the rain finally caught up with us. Sitting in Magic Wood watching it pour down for the 4th straight day in a row, and the forecast showing no end in sight, we decided to make the 6 hour trek across Europe to the magical forest of Fontainebleau, France. I had only been to Font once. It was two years ago and unfortunately I was only able to spend a total of 7 days in the forest. If you know Font, then you know this is nowhere near...

Here is a short video of my trip to Fontainebleau in Spring 2013. Enjoy some impressions of this beautliful place. Fontainbleau for me is just one of the best climbing spots in the world and Easter this year, I had the great opportunity to spend a perfect holiday there with nice people and the best conditions you can imagine. Thanks a lot to Moritz Thon, Andre Wagner and Matt Maisak for this awesome trip!!!

This year we did not want to miss the holiday we had ahead of Easter, so Laia few months ago came up with the bright idea to go alone for a week with our small to Fontainebleau, and I have to say thank you, go alone implies some handicaps when scaled according to problems, but in the end I think it was more positive than negative, but not if you've noticed in chains and how well we have managed our time.

It has been another hard winter here in Scotland. The long dark nights, the rain and the work commitments have once again meant that rock activity has been limited. Same old story huh?! Well, with a weather window coinciding with a few days off there was nothing for it but to escape the country all together. I have never been the best boulderer and this year I am determined to turn that around. I have been seeing some progression in the training and was keen to apply it to the boulders. Where would you go to boulder...

Last time I came to Font, it was to be sort of a vacation... There were projects I wanted to do, of course (there always are), but my intention was to sort of take it down a notch and have a little more fun, to not get wrapped up in the epic battle that usually ensues when I’m trying to climb at or near my limit. I managed to do a few of these projects that didn’t necessitate the simmering insanity that is a typical side effect of the mega-project, and they were some of the...
