SCS regionals were a few weeks ago, down in Rockville, Maryland. I drove down the day before the comp, which was also my last day of classes, to stay with my friend Kerry for the night. We ended up having a 4-hour AP biology study session for most of the evening, since we were both taking the exam the next Monday, and crashed at about 11:30 since the comp was the next morning.
Another impressive line sent last weekend in the south of Spain, paradise of perfect rock. "Momento Payaso",8b+ a long, sustained and hard tufa climbing.
In the last 4 months 16 year old Swiss Giuliano Cameroni climbed 31 boulders graded 8A or harder! At the same time he also set a new record: Giuliano became the youngest climber to climb an 8C boulder. We filmed Giuliano during a sunny sunday afternoon in Chironico - one of the most beautiful and well known boulder area in Switzerland and even in the world. In just a few tries he made the ascent of “Vitruvian Man” 7C and in 1 hour he succeeded in”‘Willenberg Dach” 8A.
So, I've been pretty busy lately. I took a trip to Bishop a while back and was able to send my long term project Direction V13. I had been working on it for a couple years, so it is extremely rewarding to be able to move on from it! Now it is almost summer time which doesn't reveal good climbing conditions. For now I will work, save money, and maybe take a few short weekend trips to Tahoe/Tuolumne. I recently got a new job! I started Route Setting Full Time for Touchstone Climbing...
