The Practitioner - Alex Fritz

The Practitioner - Alex Fritz

Today was my first day back on real rock since November, which means the first day in 2013! Kind of sad but it was a really good day! Hopefully it won't be another 4 months before I get back out....

Today I sent The Practitioner first burn of the day! I was so happy. The Practitioner is a very steep problem with a cool roof feature at the base of the climb. Compared often to a refrigerator  the climb is very thuggish, compressiony, and requires some good power endurance. Last time I worked this climb I fell off the committing, heart-breaker finish 9 times in one session. I've worked this climb out a lot over the past 2-3 years and it is not my climbing style so it's pretty burly for me.

No only was it my first time out on real rock in months but I sent a project I have been working for years with relative ease! I have never felt so solid on this problem and that gave me so much psych! My skin is still good and I felt like my ability to send The Practitioner means I'm either in pretty good shape, or I worked it so much it was about time I sent it. SCS Adult Nationals is coming up very soon, April 5th and 6th, and I'm very excited to be returning to Boulder for some more sports action!
