Ryan Silven

Growing up in the mountains of Summit County, Colorado my adventurous spirit and need to explore began early with my love of skiing. One fateful summer I tried climbing at a small, local's crag. It was at this quartz cliffband that I knew I had found a passion and I've climbed obsessively since. Since the beginning my climbing has been dependent upon exploration and the "new," whether it's just a new problem to me in an established area or an entirely untouched boulderfield in a place no one's ever thought to look. Some of my favorite First Ascents include: "Lost the Plot" (V10) at Lincoln Lake, "The Outcast" (V11) at RMNP, "Notorious" (V8) at RMNP, "Shot Tower" (V5) at Lincoln Lake, "Adaptation" (V11) at Newlin Creek, "Vendetta" (V8) at Joe's Valley, and "Adrift" (V6) at Devil's Kitchen. I am truly a child of the Rocky Mountains and in its peaks, cliffs, valleys, boulders, and rivers is where you will find me.
