Here is the video of the shots we got from the BASEline on May 22, 2010. The line was rigged in mineral bottom next to a popular BASE exit that starts with an m, and ends in eri's gash. This is the POV shot and 1 other shot done by Braden, a new moab monkey. I found this line a few weeks ago, but just haven't had the time, and more importantly haven't had the weather to complete this mission. I have been to this location, which is an hour+ drive from my house, 4 times in the last week. Had to wait on wind, rain, wind again, rain again.... but on sunday we got about a 6 hour window... or should i say calmdow, to try to stick the FA on the newest BASEline in Moab. Ryan, Heinz, and I drilled and placed the the bolts, and on one side we had to hammer away (by we i mean ryan) about 2 " on sand to get to "good" rock. The issue was that the bolts were on a ledge that is just barely occupy-able by 1 person, and if you slip, you wouldn't die... for about 5.5 seconds. It wasn't too gnarly, but it was enough to get some blood flowing. After the bolts were in the rig job was amazingly easy. Walk around anchors, room for tension, level, good step offs,5 min approach from the car, road at the bottom to pick you up after you jump, and more than 400ft of exposure to rattle your mind into a trance of fear-citement. After a test onsight full man, ball and chain send, it was time to put on the rig and get into the air. This video covers the first jump, but i will include the secret footage of the second jump in a later video. This is just a bit of a teaser for all ya'll who just wanted a taste of the action out here in moab. The second jump was a bit more scary considering i slipped off the highline and fell head down right next to the rock. It left only silence in the crowd watching, but ended up ok somehow... hoooray for luck~ See you guys soon. OooOOoooOoooouUUuuUUuUuUuuUugGGggGGGgGggghhHhhhHHhHH!
