I am exactly one month before the start of the world cup series in speed climbing. I’m finishing phase of the toughest workouts, already thinking about the first starts. The winter time I worked very well, rebuilding muscle mass in the injured leg, so that I could return to normal training.
Growing up to pass time at the hockey rink while Charlie played, I could be found up in the rafters. I would climb the scaffolding, and when my parents went to look for me, they just had to look up. Well, Red Bull and I chose to take this scaffolding idea to a bigger arena: Quite literally. Red Bull owns The New York Red Bulls and the old Giant’s Stadium in Harrison, NJ, just outside of NYC. With the help and support of both Red Bull and Petzl, we had an incredibly savvy crew at the arena...

I’m always amazed at the time I spend preparing for a BASE trip in comparison to the time I’ll actually spend in flight for it. It’s not uncommon I spend over twenty hours planning a trip that only yields about three-minutes of flight time. Hours are spent on logistical preparation, travel time, location and exit-point scouting and hiking. On paper, the time spent planning for a flight vs. flight time doesn’t seem to add up, yet time and time again those few seconds in flight are so potent it makes it’s all worth it.
2014 has been turning out to be a spectacular year so far with the newest member added to the family- my little fur face, and great flying conditions! I had been planning to spend my winter season speedriding and skiing non-stop, but with the marginal snow conditions, I have reverted back to my summer sports plan and have been wingsuiting in the Chamonix valley all season!
Going to Peñoles always gets me motivated because it's safe to say that it's one of the places I've been going to the most, and the amount of projects accumulating grows. Each year more and more people show up and it looks like this year won't be the exception. A lot of climbers, many of which are very good friends, have plans for coming. You could say this area was my high school and university, to which I've put a lot of time and effort into.
