  • About me I love both trad and sport climbing and try and do a mixture of the two. I’ve on-sighted/ flashed over 100 E5’s on a variety of rock types and situations, from the sea-cliffs of Lundy, Pembroke, Fairhead, Gogarth, the Outer Hebrides and Reiff, to the mountain crags of Wales, Lakes and Glencoe, and not forgetting the beautiful sandstone crags of Northumberland and my favourite, the Yorkshire limestone. Moving on to harder trad and I’ve on-sighted/flashed at least 15 E6’s (Yorkshire, Scotland, Lakes and N.Wales), as well as Death Wish E7 6b at Blue Scar and was pleased to get the 4th ascent of Vlad the Impailer E7 6b at Dove Crag. I also recently head-pointed my first E8 Bleed in Hell at Bowder Crag in the Lakes. On the bolts I’ve flashed F7c+ and red-pointed several F8b's, including the first ascent of Stolen at Kilnsey.

Turkey 2012 - Karin Magog
This was a trip I was really looking forward to. I was excited to be going somewhere new with stacks of routes to on-sight, instead of our recent red-pointing trips to Northern Spain. We had also been persuaded by...
November 2011 - Spain - Karin Magog
I had a very good trip to Spain, despite much more unsettled conditions than usual. The first week was very wet, then it improved for a time before another massive dump of rain, which left the crags pretty wet....
Summer 2011 - Karin Magog
August/September 2011 I've had a lot of work on these past couple of months which hasn't been too bad since the weather up here in the north has been very damp and deary. Even the mini heatwave...
May/June 2011 - Karin Magog
I've been mainly trying just to climb as regularly as possible during the past couple of months and not to worry too much about the grades I'm climbing. I spent quite a few days on The Bulge at Kilnsey...
March/April 2011 - Karin Magog
I've had a very frustrating two months if I'm honest. The problem with my heel took longer to resolve than I thought it would and with my finger still giving me problems I was restricted to some weights, core...
Spain Feb 2011 - Karin Magog
Spain February 2011 I'll try and be positive but really I have to admit this was quite a disappointing trip. We started at the awesome Mas Riudoms on a busy Sunday. The only free route was the...
Spain November 2010 - Karin Magog
This was our fourth November trip to Spain and it looks like it'll become an annual event. Although the weather was more unsettled than in previous years it was still much better than being in the UK and plenty...
Karin Magog's Summer of climbing in France, Spain and the UK
I've had quite an interesting year with a good mix of trad and sport action. First off it was the Hell's Wall success with head-points of Inferno E7 6c then Bleed in Hell E8 6c. I followed...
September 2010 Report from Karin Magog
A bit of a mixed month this month. My main objective was to red-point Le Lapine but I was also keen to start doing some strength training for our trip in November. I arrived at Kilnsey feeling good but...
Karin Magog's July/August Report
Apologies for not updating my blog sooner but I seem to have been really busy these past few weeks so I've lumped the past couple of months in together. Most of our time has been spent at Kilnsey which...
