- About me
My defining climbing movement was at the end of my first year of climbing in June of 2008. It was youth nationals and I was competing there mostly because of speed, although I had made it in rope as well. Going into semi- finals for speed I was second. Then, being inexperienced in climbing and competitions, I slipped like five times and came in fifteenth, eliminating me from finals. This hit me hard and I knew that I was going to have to turn it around in rope to make up for it. The next day, rope finals, I came in third for the day and fourth overall, earning myself a spot on the USA Team. This is definitely one of my proudest moments because it taught me that climbing is something like 90% mental, and if you believe you can do it, then you can. Never back down from a problem! Even if it’s not your style or its just stupid, you can still learn from it. Every single problem or route has the potential to teach, and if you walk away from it, you are walking away from potential learning opportunities.
When not climbing, I love hang'in out with my friends and watching T.V. (my secret addiction) Most of the time I am extremely busy, so vegging out in front of a screen is my favorite way to relax! - State Texas
