WHISTLER, BC, CAN - AUG 13-15, 2014 - Crankworx is the biggest mountain bike festival in the World, hosting a variety of events over a 10 day period to include everything related to mountain biking including downhill racing, slalom, pump track, enduro, freeride events, video and photo contests, parties, industry expo, and an open bike park for everyone to enjoy.
When I first arrived in Europe, I was in Madrid waiting for my connecting flight to Turin, Italy, where I would be picked up by some friends to go to Briancon. It finally happened! I'm very sad to say that I have officially aged out of youth competitions! After seven years of competing, this weekend marked my final youth nationals. I feel sad to be leaving the junior series, but very thankful to have been a part of so many amazing experiences. The comps, people, and places I have been able to encounter as a youth climber have truly been life changing. Despite finishing well and having fun with friends, this last competition can only be described as bittersweet.
Experiencing progression all over again! Last week, Kelly and I packed our bags and made the trek from Holland to Switzerland. During our time in Magic Wood, I sent 3 of the most difficult boulders I have climbed in over 5 years and was witness to Kelly's progression as a rock climber, watching her tick off her first 7A.
A couple of weeks ago, laying in my cottage at Traveler's Rest, I had an interesting moment of being stuck between sleep and awareness. I was literally stuck, unable to move my limbs, knowing I was nearly asleep. I remember thinking this should have worried me but I felt peacefully safe. I also knew I would eventually wake up.
