I had the pleasure of traveling to Hawaii for teaching BMX and skateboarding to kids living on US military bases on the island of Oahu. There are two skate parks on the Hickam/Pearl Harbor base and both have a plethora of different ramps, wedges and rails. About 40 kids ages 6-16, participated in a 3-hour class for 5-days learning the building blocks of BMX & Skateboarding. I was the BMX coach and Ryan Seifried was the skateboard coach. The Autumn winds of Colorado blew us East, but the winds were damp and even colder in Michigan and Columbus, Ohio. We were stoked to be spending the weekend riding indoors at the Terradome and competing in the Finals of the 4-part, AMFLT2013 series. I'd been practicing my backwards manuals and hang-5 variations and was really stoked to be meeting up with a huge turnout of riders from North America to lay down our best runs on the smooth floor. Between catching up with old friends and seeing what new tricks were being pulled the time seemed to fly...
