After a grueling few weeks of writing sub plans, being a single dog parent, and packing, I plopped into my tiny airplane seat and immediately felt a load lifted from my shoulders. When you’re a Kindergarten teacher it’s not easy to wrangle an extra week of vacation in the fall. But I’d managed it and couldn’t have been more psyched.

Competition came to an end in the speed world cup 2012 series. Five Ten athlete Edyta Ropek after last event in Mokpo was classified at fourth position in WC ranking. She is the best non Russian athlete throughout the all cycle. This was also for her breaking through season, as she managed to climb in 8,90 second during WCh in Paris – it’s her personal best, and one off the countless results in the world.

The wonderful change of the leaves from vibrant greens to deep reds, yellows and oranges is a sight I had yet to see and is almost as impressive as the climbing. As far as the climbing goes, it goes well. I have sampled numerous rigs from the famous Mother Load to smaller cliffs like the Gold Coast, Bob Marley, Drive By and The Dark Side. Some of the nicer rigs that stand out are black...

24 hours of horseshoe hell is truly an amazing event and a test of mental and physical toughness, there is nothing else like it out there. A grassroots, hometown event executed flawlessly by event coordinators. This was my first trip and a quick one, but along with my partner Brent Perkins, we finished 2nd overall in the team event being taken down by tough conditions and the power team of Sonnie Trotter and Tommy Caldwell. This year over 40 competitors completed over 100 pitches during the 24 hour period.

A trip which was both my honeymoon and first taste of America. I wish I was still there to tell you the truth. 3 weeks, 3 areas and 1600 miles of driving. A wonderful journey but not long enough to truly get to grips with any one area. The 28 degree heat didn't help matters, and to some extent the enormous choice of stunning routes didn't help either. I have written more extensively about each of the areas we...

I climbed this summer in Céüse, Ombleze and Fontaine Bleau. I'll make a large update next week. I'm packing to leave for a week of climbing in Berdorf. A big thanks to the Five Ten team europe and the Netherlands to make sure new shoes are delivered super fast. I choose Berdorf to train in sandstone. In September I'll be a part of an International Trad. Sandstone Climbing meet in Adršpach Hope the weather stays good and I'll be back next week,...
