Checking in from the road! I had the pleasure to take the FiveTen adventure mobile on the road for a few weeks on a massive BASE jumping safari through the western United States. Starting in Seattle, fellow BASE jumper and badass Braden Dean and I moved into our temporary home (a sick Mercedes Sprinter vans all FiveTen'ed up) and started driving down the coast. First stop, Lodi California for some skydiving. Skydiving is a crucial part of BASE jumping and is a really great opportunity to get current and practice wingsuit flying. The dropzone in Lodi is...
JT Holmes and Timy Dutton drove out to Utah to meet up with Jesse Hall, Suz Graham, Neil Amonson and Marshal Miller in order to jump, jump and do some more jumping. This trip highlight was a creative and spontaneous balloon jump above Tooele Valley. It is ver fun what can happen with some extra altitude! The Chase shoe from Five Ten provided nice grip on the railing of the balloon basket.
Shot entirely on GoPro with early access to Squaw Valley, JT, Tim and Espen skydive to Squaw's upper mountain slopes, have some good clean fun.. and then of course, take the cable car down... but not all the way down!
I have never been to China before- had a tease last year when a similar event was planned and I was invited, but then was cancelled last minute. So this time, when I started getting a string of emails with official invitations from the Hunan Government I was hopeful it would actually happen this time. With things ‘like this,’ you never really know- my world is filled with lots of really great ideas, fantastical assurances about lifetime trips and reality tv series’ so you have to take everything with a grain of salt. However, once in a while it...
One very early, very chilly desert morning- actually, this was the second consecutive morning we tried this, so a 3:30 AM wake up call x2- some friends and I found ourselves in the middle of the flat, dusty, desert watching the moon and the stars disappear and the sun gradually start to shed it's light over the golden landscape. A little windy considering most balloons won't leave the ground if there is the slightest breath of wind- but our balloon pilot is a cowboy and was determined to get us off the ground. Hence the scary part. But soon...
A few weeks ago, Go Pro and Harley Davidson called me and proposed the following: How would you like to ride a Harley from Seattle to Sturgis in 4 days with other athletes Chad Kagy, Brian Lopes, Eric Jackson, Aaron Chase and others. Bottom line: Open road. Great people. Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Skydiving, and partying. How could I say no?! Sign me up. Such a killer trip and amazing experience. A huge Thanks goes out to Go Pro, Harley Davidson, and the Schauf Brothers for making my first Sturgis experience happen....
