One of my favorite ways of charting progress is by returning to projects that I'd cleaned and tried in the past and finding that they're all-of-a-sudden doable. Colorado is where I learned to climb and Colorado is the place I've explored the most in the pursuit of things to climb. On more than one occasion my eye for boulder problems has exceeded my abilities at that moment in time. I always leave humbled but I don't forget these boulders. I bide my time, get stronger, and have another crack at them. One such boulder is a very steep prow...
Last Saturday was the DRG comp which always pulls a big crowd and many strong competitors in the open category. This year was no different. The trip definitely did not go as planned and I had a few unfortunate set backs. First off was the weather and then on my 3rd day of climbing I manage a pretty nasty gash down my left forearm. The only upside that I can think of is the fact that I got to climb 2 AMAZING V13's, Clan of the Cave Bears and The Mote in God's Eye, both at...
So for the past 7 days we've been out here on the beautiful front range of Boulder, CO. This is most definitely turning into my home away from home. I've spent around the last 5 summers here as it is definitely the number one spot to escape the dreaded "off season". Another amazing thing about this place is that it provides me with a much needed rhythm. Wake up, eat, hike a couple miles into the back country, climb all damn day, hike back out, eat dinner and relax. It's perfect and as I'm writing this...
