Summer Recap - Zoe Steinberg

Summer Recap - Zoe Steinberg
September 24, 2014 -  Zoe Steinberg

So I haven’t exactly been the most timely person out there when it’s come to updating this blog over the past few months. I could give any number of excuses as to why I haven’t posted since July, all of which would be something along the lines of “I was traveling somewhere and there was no internet and then I got busy”, but I’m guessing that anyone who reads this doesn't want to hear it. Anyway, I’ll try to keep this brief, since I did a lot over the last two months and would like to get it all...

Well it looks like I’m behind the curve on this one but here’s some back story for the Something Old, Something New NRG video.

New River Gorge, Journeyman - Ben Spannuth

New River Gorge, Journeyman - Ben Spannuth

The New River Gorge probably has the most palpable climbing history of any area I’ve been to in the US. I haven’t been to Smith but more so than most areas the NRG is littered with routes put up before I had started climbing and even has several from before I was born. Typically, this time period is known for its nails hard vertical and slightly overhanging routes, what I like to call slabs, but the NRG certainly has climbs of a wide variety of styles. I’ve only seen a handful of the walls but each...

A Taste of America - Alan Cassidy

A Taste of America - Alan Cassidy
October 13, 2012 -  Alan Cassidy

I'm not long back from my road trip round the North East States. A trip which was both my honeymoon and first taste of America. I wish I was still there to tell you the truth. 3 weeks, 3 areas and 1600 miles of driving. A wonderful journey but not long enough to truly get to grips with any one area. The 28 degree heat didn't help matters, and to some extent the enormous choice of stunning routes didn't help either. I have written more extensively about each of the areas we...

Summer Solstice - Tim Rose

Summer Solstice - Tim Rose
June 27, 2012 -  Tim Rose

Thursday I made the five and a half hour drive back to Fayettville WV to spend another weekend in the New River Gorge. During my last trip, I was gifted with low temps and low humidity. This trip was the quite the opposite. June 21st was the summer solstice and conditions reflected it. We got into Fayettville late on Thursday, had some dinner and decided to make a plan for Friday. The forecast looked grim with rain in the afternoon and highs in the 90’s. Our plan would be to spend the...
