A Summer to Remember - Nick Bradley

A Summer to Remember - Nick Bradley
August 25, 2014 -

These past two months have been full of nothing but climbing at the best crags in the country with just as amazing people, and memories that I will be able to cherish forever. I wanted my summer to be full of lied-back climbing, and I couldn't be happier with the result. My attitude towards climbing is always calm but psyched, and I was able to apply that at the beautiful Red River Gorge, KY and Maple Canyon, UT to enjoy my stay, but still crush harder than ever before. However, none of this would've turned out as well as...

SCS Nationals – Its Not Over Until its Over - Matt Grossman

SCS Nationals – Its Not Over Until its Over - Matt Grossman
July 25, 2014 -

It was day 3 and I was on the wall in semi-finals at the USA Sport Climbing National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. I was only a few moves from the highpoint for the day. I shook out for a few more seconds and then it was go time. I took a deep breath and made my next move to a crimp. Then the next and the next. I was feeling good, so I skipped the jug rest and kept going to reach the highpoint for the day. I was ready to get a few more clips to top...

MEC Bouldering Nationals 2014 - Sebastien Lazure

MEC Bouldering Nationals 2014 - Sebastien Lazure
April 03, 2014 -

It was the Canadian Bouldering Championships last weekend at Coyote Rock Gym in Ottawa. The organization of the comp decided to change the format and add a semifinal round only a week prior to the comp. This format change added a little pressure to everyone as only top 6 competitors would advance to finals letting no room for errors. It was a mental challenge, but I had prepare all season to be ready for that comp and I was feeling good. My main focus was to be able to get in the ”zone” to be able to climb...

Finishing Out the Bouldering Season - Zoe Steinberg

Finishing Out the Bouldering Season - Zoe Steinberg
March 06, 2014 -  Zoe Steinberg

Since it is starting to seem like I am always a little behind on blog posts, I am going to try something a little different with the next two posts. Instead of giving a full run through of every comp I have gone to since my last post (I think there have been about 7 of them), I’m going to quickly summarize the events that I went to in this post, and then reflect on them in a couple of weeks in my next post when I have had a little more time to think on them. ...

Comp Season: Understanding the Importance of Failure - Josh Levin

Comp Season: Understanding the Importance of Failure - Josh Levin
February 26, 2014 -

With ABS Nationals just having come to a close, I want to address a subject most people are keen to avoid: failure. Failure is something that we avoid at all costs in all aspects of life, let alone competition climbing. However, I believe there are many important lessons to be learned from failure, especially when it comes to dealing with high-pressure situations such as in climbing competitions. This past month and a half, I have had the opportunity to compete in a major pro-level bouldering competition on east coast 6 weekends out of 7. So far, almost every...

Gravity National Champs 2013 (Angel Fire, NM) - Armen Davis

Gravity National Champs 2013 (Angel Fire, NM) - Armen Davis
August 09, 2013 -

Another great weekend of racing! The track was classic Angel Fire – rough, fast, and loose. It was probably one of the most fun courses offered in the Rocky Mountains. Each day of practice offered different conditions because of either overnight rain or being blown-out from the day before. So in that aspect, it was a great test of the riders’ abilities. On Saturday, I was very fortunate to be able to ride with fellow Five Ten athlete Troy Brosnan around the mountain. It was an awesome opportunity to be able to ride with...
