haveronglad u had a great trip!
Well, I can definitely say that my outside mode has been turned on and training mode has shifted a bit to the back burner. My last big competition was the Boulder Rally in Portland which did indeed turn out to be a great event! I placed 2nd in Finals, climbing through some crazy volume-studded problems and creative setting. Since then however I’ve been quenching my sandstone thirst with a trip to Joe’s Valley and my project send in Horsetooth.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to go to Joe’s Valley to do some bouldering. Never having been to Joe’s Valley before, I didn’t really know what to expect. At the beginning of the trip, I instantly fell in love with the sandstone in Joe’s valley. Our first day in Utah we went to New Joe’s. I was overwhelmed by the amount of boulders everywhere. We started on the Closet boulder. This is where I climbed my first problem in Joe’s Valley. After we warmed up, we went up the hill to climb Chips and Planet of the Apes. Planet...
Recently laid siege to Joe's Valley, weekend warrior-style (WHY can't we ever get out of town on Friday before 7pm when we have a 7+ hour drive ahead of us??). So, for all intents and purposes, it was my first trip there.
The 2012 Red Rocks Rendezvous came for me on the tail end of the Ride with the Rep tour that Ronnie Jenkins and I made- I was home for two days before packing up and heading down to Vegas for the following week. The days all kind of drift into an experience undivided after a time. I’ve been living in three separate time zones over the last month, never mind daylight savings. Back home now, I’m shoveling through piles of laundry, cleaning out the car, and trying to get the sprinklers working to water the greening tufts sprouting up...
Fixing the CamperWith October on the farm being so busy and life’s demands increase it’s a hard time to fit in little things like fixing a destroyed 1963 camper from the mob of teenage boys who have been “chilling” in it while I was away on my last trip. So Jes & I had to kick it into high gear to prep for the up coming road trip with our friends Amy Langemore from Australia and Nalle Hukkataival from Finland. Ripping the back end of the camper off, replacing all the rotten wood, adding new insulation, and revamping...
