Congratulations to Daniel Woods and Alex Puccio for an impressive win once again. This was my second adult competition. Last year I barely missed qualifying for semifinals in 22nd place. This time I knew I had it in me to make it to semi’s, but I always shoot for finals!!! Anyway, first off was qualifiers. I climbed about midway through the pack which turned out a great thing. Colin Bauer and I were chair buddies which was fun. I ended up sending four of the five...

Well I'm posted up in Santa Cruz, California for a minute. I've now been on the road for over two months, fully recovered from the Wisdom Teeth/Concussion epidemic. (Although I'm still waiting for my tooth chasms to creep the rest of the way closed...)

Last weekend I headed down to Albuquerque for the 15th Annual Yank-N-Yard competition. I remember competing in this event in my first few years of climbing. I feel like it was this event in the past that shaped my idea of competition climbing long before USA Climbing, the pca and UBC. I guess everyone has their own first real competition experience, professional or not at the time, this was mine.

Rumney

After Nor’easter it was great having some downtime and making our way to the outdoors in New Hampshire. To begin my preparation for the World Cup I thought clipping bolts in Rumney was a great idea, but the rain and bugs suggested otherwise. New England has very fickle weather and when the climbs I consider myself close to sending are short and powerful, weather is a large factor. It feels like every time I visit Rumney it’s always hot and raining, sigh.
