It’s been a while since I last wrote something for the blog. The reason for this silence was that there wasn’t much to tell from me as a climber – due to injuries and a resulting lack of motivation, in terms of climbing, this year has probably been the most boring one since I started with this sport some 16 years ago. Here is the story in a nutshell: 2012 started just as 2011 ended – with tons of snow, endless motivation for skiing and still a nasty infection in my heel that prevented me from wearing climbing shoes...
Go big or go home? Yes!!! This season is starting out as the season of highballs. I've been subconsciously attracted to the tallest, raddest boulders around!Every climb I've been doing lately has been at least 18 feet off the deck, it's exhilarating to be pushing my limits at such heights and my sights are only being set higher.
Yesterday, Sonnie Trotter made a rare (5th) ascent of Ambrosia V12? Being the second climber to do it since a major foothold broke, the first being Enzo Oddo, who claimed the 4th ascent at the tender age of 15 just last year. The 40 foot super highball was first established by Five Ten athlete Kevin Jorgeson and climbs directly up the south face of the Grandpa peabody boulder.
