My Last SCS Youth Nationals! - Delaney Miller

My Last SCS Youth Nationals! - Delaney Miller
August 12, 2014 -  Delaney Miller

It finally happened! I'm very sad to say that I have officially aged out of youth competitions! After seven years of competing, this weekend marked my final youth nationals. I feel sad to be leaving the junior series, but very thankful to have been a part of so many amazing experiences. The comps, people, and places I have been able to encounter as a youth climber have truly been life changing. Despite finishing well and having fun with friends, this last competition can only be described as bittersweet.

Rock and Ice Photo Camp 2014 - Delaney Miller

This year’s Rock and Ice photo camp was another great experience! It took place in Ouray, Colorado; a small, aged town located about 70 miles north of Durango. Despite the town’s rep for being an ice climbing location, the rock was vey positive. The walls were fresh with good movements and plenty of flow.  I was totally shocked by how well all the routes progressed and yet how very little traffic they received. From the understated crags to the bustling hot springs, Ouray’s charm was noticed by climbers and photography students alike.

Climbing in Vail two weeks ago was unbelievable. In one cliché, yet fitting word, Vail is magical. It has everything you could ever want in a city (except cheap food), and more importantly, it brings everyone together for one heinous weekend. I wouldn’t call myself a boulderer. I’ve always enjoyed lead climbing way more and, if you haven’t noticed, I’m a static climber and consequently struggle with some of the more dynamic movements that inevitably compose boulder problems. But, that being said, the Bouldering World Cup in Vail is probably one of my favorite events of the year! I...

October 05, 2013 -

Last weekend was the Heist, the first annual all women competition held at Central Rock Watertown, MA. The gym is basically in my home town, and of course I'm always looking for a good excuse to fly home, but this competition sounded like an experience that I just couldn't miss, and something I would've loved to participate in, no matter where it was. To make it better, my boyfriend flew down with me for moral support and my sisters were both competing with me, surrounding me with my favorite people, making it a great comp already.

I am once again behind on my blog. This has been due to an overwhelming amount of awesomeness. Last I wrote we just arrived in Colorado. Since then we climbed in Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder Canyon, Rifle and Maple. We also went to the Outdoor Retailer. I will go back and write a post about all of that, but first I need to address the most amazing competition ever hosted on planet earth. The Psicobloc Master Series.Psicobloc, if you have not heard already, is a deep water soloing competition first held in Bilbao, Spain. Chris Sharma wanted to...

Psicoblog Masters in Park City, Utah! - Jon Cardwell
August 07, 2013 -

In case you haven't heard, there was a climbing competition in Utah recently. Much more than a competition, I would call the first ever Psicobloc Master Series in the United States a demonstration. If you've weaved through the plethora of media surrounding the event via twitter, facebook and now the ever growing Instagram; a swift referral to the hashtag #psicocomp and you're able to view basically everything there is to see about the comp in Park City. The wall was set up by Walltopia over an Olympic training pool for ski jumpers, with Chris Sharma leading the vision of...
