So last week was my first competition and it was a great success. It was the first competition the Calgary Climbing Centre had had put on in two years and it was amazing. There were sixty routes, over 150 competitors and people came out from all over including BC, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Canmore. Lots of fun with great people. The competition was finished with a slack line competition. I would have thought I would have won the slack lining with my strip tease performance, but apparently no one wants to see that.

Red Rock Rendezvous is the country's largest outdoor climbing festival. There are clinics for all climbers, regardless of skill level. The beautiful backdrop of the Red Rock Canyon, located 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip, brings climbers from across the globe to experience the Rendezvous. Some are here for the first time, others haven’t missed a year. Registration is now open!

Its Wednesday the second. This weekend it the first climbing competition for me of the season. Getting pretty stoked. Its just a small local comp put on by my local gym. DJ's, tonnes of problems, and a lot of friends. Not to mention an awesome after party. Can't complain.

Just a quick update on a couple comps before the Tour de Bloc season starts! The Summer Sweat Fest Season is now over. The season finale competition that I was talking about earlier went really well. I ended up winning the competition and had so much fun. My buddy Dustin Curtis was setting for the comp and he always impresses with new movements and really creative sequences. Check out this link he posted of me flashing Mens final number 4:

I had a great time and placed a respectable 23rd. I feel that I did well for how stacked the competition was, but I know I could definitely have done better. The weekend started off by flying out with my mom to Denver on Friday morning, then driving out to Boulder that afternoon for the opening ceremonies. The competition was kicked off in grand style by a parade straight through downtown Pearl Street with all 13 National Teams present, and a bongo-playing...

Last weekend I headed down to Albuquerque for the 15th Annual Yank-N-Yard competition. I remember competing in this event in my first few years of climbing. I feel like it was this event in the past that shaped my idea of competition climbing long before USA Climbing, the pca and UBC. I guess everyone has their own first real competition experience, professional or not at the time, this was mine.

Last weekend was the NORTHWEST BOULDERFEST at the brand new Seattle Bouldering Project (the largest bouldering gym IN THE WORLD!). The gym opened earlier this summer but it was going to be my first time there so I was psyched to take on the new terrain and try to win some money in Open. I fell off the last move of their hardest route a good four or five times, which wasn’t ideal, but I was still psyched! I then competed in an adult competition with cash prizes where I placed second to Brian Anthunuiese, despite being pretty sick. other than those two comps I’ve just been climbing...

It was my first Lead World Cup competition and it was nice to be on home turf. The host gym, Movement Climbing & Fitness, is only a few blocks from my house, and it certainly made the whole experience far more pleasant. After competing in Arco this summer, after some heinous travel days getting there, it was nice to compete in an event of that caliber in a more comfortable environment. That's not to say the competition was easy. The...

This Autumn for me has been the busiest one of my life. I kicked things off in early September in Sonoma, CA for a clinic instructors' course. Our goal was to tear down climbing; moves, techniques, training ideas, competition strategies, efficient teaching skills, all leading towards producing the best clinics possible. With the additional help of Beth Rodden, Emmy Surma, Rusty Klassen and Andrew McDermott we were able to come up with an incredible and unique clinic program that we could pack up and take with us like Cirque du Soleil.

This past weekend was the first competition in the Spot Bouldering Series for this season as well as an ABS competition. The competition had almost 200 youth competitors in the morning and as far as I have heard somewhere in the range of one to two hundred adult competitors as well at night. It turned out to be a great competition, tons a great problems and music with the typical competition atmosphere that comes with competing at the Spot Bouldering Gym.

The Nor'easter powered by Eastern Mountain Sports is the spiritual home of the active outdoor community. It's a 3-day celebration of outdoor culture showcasing the sports we play, the music we listen, the food we eat, the beer we drink and the environmental issues that concern us. This year's Nor'easter will sprawl out across Burlington with a Cyclocross race at North Beach, concerts and satellite events on Church St, and the festival Base Camp at Waterfront Park.

Well, first off id like to apologize for the tardiness on this post, I've been trying to catch up on school, with my immense amount of makeup work. the best part was, whilst i was working straight from 3:30 till 10 purely on makeup work, i got behind on the assignments that were getting assigned for that night. i think slash hope that now I'm on schedule with everyone else!
