Bouldering in Macedonia - Niccolò Ceria

Bouldering in Macedonia - Niccolò Ceria
November 15, 2013 -  Niccolò Ceria

The first time I read about bouldering potential in Macedonia was more than one year ago. I don't know why, but after the images I saw, I began to wonder how the climbing would have been down there and my curiosity became higher and higher the months later. I was curious for many factors. On one hand because the area is still not so frequented and not so well known by the most part of the climbers. Secondly, Macedonia sounds strange for a climbing destination and it leads to a small taste of exploration. For the last cause, my...

Leavenworth Trip - Joseph Gifford

Leavenworth Trip - Joseph Gifford
November 10, 2013 -

Recently I took a trip to Leavenworth, WA with the Circuit bouldering gym crew which was my first time to go outdoor bouldering in the northwest. The rock there is extremely textured granite and its rough on the skin, so two days of climbing made my fingers pretty raw by the end of the trip. The location of Leavenworth is interesting, the local town is a German influenced town so all the buildings look like Americanized German buildings and some of the buildings just have German lettering, which apparently makes it “German”. All the boulders are scattered throughout...

Spring in Squamish and Summer in Seattle - Jesse Warren

Spring in Squamish and Summer in Seattle - Jesse Warren
November 09, 2013 -

After a winter trip to Thailand, I returned to Squamish for the remainder of winter. I arrived back just in time for the January dry spell that seems to always occur here each year. It’s a shame that most people experience Squamish in the hot, slightly humid days of summer. It really is the only predictable time to visit, but they miss out on the small windows of stickiness that occur when temperatures hover around freezing during the winter. So much of Squamish’s friction dependent climbing is more enjoyable on these few, sticky and cold days. During this time...

Disappointment, Perfectionism & Identity in Climbing - Aicacia Young

Disappointment, Perfectionism & Identity in Climbing - Aicacia Young
November 09, 2013 -  Aicacia Young

Climbing has become one of my strongest passions for so many reasons. Outside of the physical benefits of the sport, I feel that climbing has greatly improved my mental and emotional health. After some mild disappointment last weekend, I decided to explore the reasoning behind my disappointment, and my discovery was a bit deeper than I had originally anticipated. Disappointment is something I’ve struggled with a lot during this last year of climbing, and I just now realized how pointless it is. I think that disappointment is certainly normal for most people, especially in climbing, but I...

LRC Triple Crown - Francesca Metcalf

LRC Triple Crown - Francesca Metcalf
November 07, 2013 -

You know fall is here when Triple Crown season starts. Unfortunately this year, Triple Crown turned into Double Crown when Hound Ears, the first leg of the series, was cancelled. However, this didn't stop us from being just as psyched when the LRC leg came around. I went to Chattanooga with 14 other GT climbing club members on Saturday night, where we got to hang out in Chat, one of my favorite cities. We got in a little warm-up for the morning with some bouldering on the street art, while we strategized for the next day.

Bouldering at Niagara Glen, Canada - Hans Christian Montenegro

Bouldering at Niagara Glen, Canada - Hans Christian Montenegro
November 07, 2013 -

Niagara Glen, a perfect trip for you! This amazing place is ideal for a trip. You will find different kind of rocks (volcanic, granite, etc). Also, you will find different levels s problems; from V0 to V12. If you have a V4-V7 level this is a perfect place for you because you will find many problems on this level. All the problems have something to teach to you. If you like to climb more with real holds this is the right place because the problems have real pinches, crimps and slopers (It is not only about grip but movements)....
