Pine Mountain - Itai Axelrad

Pine Mountain - Itai Axelrad
October 16, 2011 -

This Friday was my first time climbing in Pine Mountain. It has large sandstone boulders with interesting features. I wish I would have gotten up there sooner than this year. I headed up to the mountain at 8 on Friday morning with five other climbers from San Luis Obispo. We were all excited to get outside at the fist sign of fall temps. Although this trip was more like training for the trip to Bishop next weekend, it was fun non the less. The climbers on the trip were all of different calibers so we got on many different...

Malniu back again - Ferran Guerrero Hervas

Malniu back again - Ferran Guerrero Hervas
October 16, 2011 -

Last week we took for almost finished the season in Malniu boulder, three fingers of snow covered everything and if it was snowing again it was clear that this hour's drive to find and clean new lines whereyou would ride until the following spring, it seems be that this fall is giving us respite, our legs do nothing but walk and walk, Malniu is our new playground.

Rocktoberfest 2011 - Jessa Goebel

Rocktoberfest 2011 - Jessa Goebel
October 14, 2011 -

This years Rocktoberfest at the Red River Gorge was again a success. Great weather, great climbing, and a great event put on by the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition. The purpose of the event is to help pay for the Pendergrass-Murry Recreational Preserve (AKA Muir Valley) which hosts some of the most aesthetic routes at the Red. Area legend and developer, Porter Jarrard once told me the climb Cell Block Six in the Muir Valley area is the best route he has climbed at the Red.

IFSC Lead World Cup in Boulder, CO - Carlo Traversi

IFSC Lead World Cup in Boulder, CO - Carlo Traversi
October 14, 2011 -

This past weekend I competed in the IFSC Lead World Cup in Boulder, CO. It was my first Lead World Cup competition and it was nice to be on home turf. The host gym, Movement Climbing & Fitness, is only a few blocks from my house, and it certainly made the whole experience far more pleasant. After competing in Arco this summer, after some heinous travel days getting there, it was nice to compete in an event of that caliber in a more comfortable environment. That's not to say the competition was easy. The...

Rocklands: The Vice - Dave Wetmore

Rocklands: The Vice - Dave Wetmore
October 12, 2011 -

A few weeks ago, I returned from my trip to the Rocklands; a trip of endless bouldering, delicious steaks and massive pizza's from the coveted Elephaunthous, romantic walks in acre-long flower beds, and lions devouring donkey's that had just been assassinated for our super-sketchy safari. Instead of going through every boulder problem and memory, I'll leave behind on this blog what stood out as the most poignant of them all: a post I wrote a few days after my send of The Vice.
