Hueco Tanks Adventure Part 1 - Joseph Gifford

Hueco Tanks Adventure Part 1 - Joseph Gifford
January 17, 2014 -

This year I had an entire month off of school for fall break so I spent two amazing weeks in Hueco Tanks. The day after I got off the plane coming from Portland, OR I met up with Dalan Faulkner and Kyle Francis and began the 10 hour drive to Hueco. On our first day in Hueco the weather was perfect, at 50/60 degrees F with clear skies, actually it was pretty much perfect the entire time I was there which has never happened to me while at Hueco because in previous years it had been super cold and...

The Problems and Projects of Bishop - Markus Eder
January 16, 2014 -  Markus Eder

After sunset the hot spring six miles south of Bishop is the meeting point for many climbers and also some non-climbers. As well as relaxing in the warm water also highly scientific discussions are held. So a dirt biker astonishing that: “What, do you call the rocks, you want to climb, problems? What a life if these are your only problems!”“Our boulders are problems for us! If we fall in love with a line, we have to try again and again to get on top. We put all our energy and thoughts in that climb.” So in addition...

Summit Comp Series - Kyle Francis

Summit Comp Series - Kyle Francis
January 15, 2014 -

Two weeks ago my hometown gym, Summit-Carrolton, hosted a competition. They’ve been hosting them at their other location during the fall season, but this was the first one I was able to attend. With my training what it was I had no idea what to expect. I’ve been climbing on a woody with made up problems, and nothing really to gauge my progress with. I knew I felt good, I’ve lost a few pounds, but I had no idea how I really felt. This being said I was pretty nervous with the field, Alex fritz flew in for the...

It’s been a while since I’ve written last, I’m sorry I’ve been ignoring you blog world! ;) Well, I have some exciting news for you all... My hard work is starting to pay off! Competing in the Rockies Rampage Climbing Competition, hosted by Elevation Place, in Canmore, AB, I had my best finish so far this season. I was able to finish second place in an increasingly stiff field!Currently, I’m sitting with a 5th place and 4th place finish from 2 comps earlier this season. Most recently, in December, I placed 3rd at The Hive Bouldering Comp and now...

Aescent Approach Shoe Review - David Farkas
January 13, 2014 -

So you’re looking for a pair of shoes to wear kayaking?  With so many options out there, from kayak specific shoes to runners to … well you get the point …it can be a little challenging to pick the right one.  Especially considering shoes don’t come cheap these days.  Let me explain a situation that occurred to me a few years ago that had me really thinking about my shoes.

Competition at Horizon Roc - Hans Christian Montenegro

Competition at Horizon Roc - Hans Christian Montenegro
January 12, 2014 -

This was the second competition from the new session. The competition was at Horizon Roc. In my opinion, this is a nice gym with a different style of climbing. This time, the problems were not very hard for your fingers but you should have more balance and body tension. There were 43 climbers in the open category and 50 problems in the qualifying round. After three hours of climbing, I completed six problems in the top 10. This score put me in the fourth place in the finals. Then, I rested in the finals isolation. There were four problems...
