Climbing Club at University of Colorado - Sierra Carroll

Climbing Club at University of Colorado - Sierra Carroll
February 25, 2012 -

Just finished my first week of midterms for the semester and am excited to be watching the ABS National Championships tonight in Colorado Springs. This week has been a very eventful week not only because of midterms and Nationals but also because I have finally gotten my idea to create a Christian climbing group on campus off the ground. I met this week with the National Director of Solid Rock Climbers for Christ and am looking at beginning a chapter here on campus in the near future as long as everything goes as planned. I had a great time...

Almost a Month in Mexico City - Diego Lopez Montull

Almost a Month in Mexico City - Diego Lopez Montull
February 25, 2012 -

Almost a month in Mexico City, this has been a radical change which I'm used to after living for long periods of time in remote locations. Where a lot with unrelated people, not by choice but because there is not sow many option if you want to climb in those places.

We’ll here I am: a McDonald’s in Nemours, France. It’s raining which is nothing new. Certainly I expected some rain during the course of this 28-day trip but it’s a little depressing nonetheless. But really, I have nothing to complain about. I mean for the past couple weeks I’ve been climbing in Fontainebleau, I’ve been visiting Paris on rest days, and I’ve been eating French cheese, chocolate, pastries and wine. I don’t even remember what life was like before this. That is to say, I’ll be sad to go home. Before I do though I’m hoping to finish up...

Guess what? I am… back on the plane! You know that you’re a frequent flyer when you have each airplane’s complimentary magazine dialed from front to back and then back to front, and have completed all of the Sudoku and Crossword Puzzles included in them. Yup, done that! Currently I am flying from Washington DC to Denver, Colorado to compete in the American Bouldering Series (ABS) Championships. The competition will be held in Colorado Springs and it will be my first competition of the year. With American Bouldering Competitions I never really know what to expect because sometimes the...

Winter Climbing in Switzerland - Phillip Schaal

Winter Climbing in Switzerland - Phillip Schaal
February 23, 2012 -

After arriving in Switzerland to one of the “coldest,” European week in many years, We were faced with a lot of snow to deal with. The snow and the cold did not put us off. We spent the first few days cleaning the snow of boulders, and climbing what we could. Funny how cold is interpreted depending on where you are from. It was cold when I arrived no doubt. But to hear the locals say “the coldest,” reminded me of how cold the winters are in The States. Soon enough the weather started...

This past weekend, as I mentioned before, I got the opportunity to go climbing at Rotary Park. We climbed there Thursday , Friday, and Saturday. My main goal was to send a problem called Silver Leaf. While we were up there, we also got on a few other boulders. Overall, we had a nice weekend.
