Moonlight Buttress in a Day and Other Desert Foolery - Steve Richert

Moonlight Buttress in a Day and Other Desert Foolery - Steve Richert
April 30, 2012 -  Steve Richert

Project 365 has been a struggle, climbing every day without a day off, but currently I have logged 27,200 vertical feet in 103 consecutive days climbing. Over the better part of April, we have been in Zion NP, getting reacquainted with the hardship of the desert, making big strides and learning humility.

20th Annual Smith Rock Spring Thing - Ian Caldwell

20th Annual Smith Rock Spring Thing - Ian Caldwell
April 30, 2012 -

It's spring time again and we are getting ready for our annual volunteer day at Smith Rock. We tend to get about 200 people each year to help with various projects throughout the park. This year we got a grant from The American Alpine Club to help us pay for the purchase of wood and rebar to work on the steps leading up to the climbing areas in the main part of the park. This is the 20th year that climbers have been volunteering with the park. Project sign up is 8am to 10am in the parking lot....

Moody April Climbing Report - Martina Cufar

Moody April Climbing Report - Martina Cufar
April 30, 2012 -

29th of April: The weather wasn't very gentle with us, the rock climbers during last few weeks! Rain, rain, rain and even some snow made wet most of the climbing areas around my two »base camps«, Chamonix and Mojstrana, where we spent last two weeks. I had to do some work for the Slovenian Army, where I am employed. There were three days to spend in the caserne of Vipava, but since I am still breastfeeding, I was allowed to leave in the afternoon and join Nico and Tommy in the “boulder house” nearby. Good friend of mine, a...

Spring in the Poudre - Emily Dudley

Spring in the Poudre - Emily Dudley
April 30, 2012 -

This winter was weird in Colorado. There was not that much snow and the weather was pretty warm. I was able to climb in Poudre Canyon almost every weekend. After several failed trips trying Public Property in which I was doing the crux but simply letting go of the crimp I found I was “over it” for the time being. The first weekend in April the weather forecast looked good again. I had some friends in town that had never been to the Poudre. While giving a grand overview of the problems I realized I hadn’t done a lot...

Get Outside - Riley Joyce

Get Outside - Riley Joyce
April 28, 2012 -

There's nothing more fun then bouldering outside! Recently there has been some great weather moving in, which means no more climbing on plastic. This is my favorite time of the year, when the sun comes out and you can enjoy the outside atmosphere. Even though your fingers start to bleed it always makes you look more tough! Get out side, and make a difference!
