Almost a Month out of Mexico, in Colorado - Diego Lopez Montull

Almost a Month out of Mexico, in Colorado - Diego Lopez Montull
May 19, 2012 -

Almost a month out of Mexico, in Colorado. The last days in Mexico City were good but needed a change, I make many new boulder problems, and also train a lot in the plastic the climbing GYM. live with friends with whom I began to climb, which had not seen in ages or scale with which to develop new areas in Mexico. But naw some were back in Mexico City which made it easy, go out and get another boulder area in Hidalgo, Pachuca, Mineral del Chico. Also some skills which is very rare for my had many years...

2012 Spring Update - Zoe Steinberg
May 19, 2012 -  Zoe Steinberg

After a not-so-exciting spring, stuff is finally starting to heat up! I have one more week of school and finals, and then I’m done with my sophomore year of high school. I’ve been attending Peak Potential weekly, and have also been competing a LOT lately, basically having a comp every weekend for about a month. On April 21 I had a sport comp at a gym in New Rochelle called TRC, and the weekend after, I competed in the finals for a new series started by Deadpoint Magazine called the YBS (Youth Bouldering Series). The...

New Route-ing in Mill Creek - Lisa Hathaway

New Route-ing in Mill Creek - Lisa Hathaway
May 18, 2012 -

Yesterday, I went to the crag tired tired tired and with very little motivation to do anything but cheer on my friend Paige on her proj. I was fairly content with the choice to chill--day after day has been filled with a relentless routine of field-work (aka milesssss of sand-slogging in the dark, with the company solely of my dogs and the clouds of gnats), music (2 gigs this past week!) and cramming in climbing. As well as not sending the usual life projects like laundry, paper-work and oh, I dunno, say eating and bathing?! (And if you climb...

A Spring Update - Jason Kruk

A Spring Update - Jason Kruk
May 18, 2012 -

Hey Five Ten world. A quick update: Most have likely read about my and Hayden Kennedy's trip to the Cerro Torre range in southern Patagonia this past winter, so I won't go into much detail. We had what I would describe as an audacious season, climbing all four Torres (Standhardt, Herron, Egger, Cerro Torre) in fine fast style. Also, a new route on another beautiful face we called The Gentleman's Club. We managed to be the first to skip the hundreds of bolts placed along Cerro Torre's southeast ridge, what they called a 'fair means' ascent. We...

On Putting a Nemesis to Rest - Melissa Lipani

On Putting a Nemesis to Rest - Melissa Lipani
May 18, 2012 -

Every climber, no matter how long you have been climbing, knows what it is like to have a nemesis. That one route or boulder problem that you just can’t seem to finish for some reason, usually that reason being more mental than physical. Quite often, you have worked out every move and just can’t for the life of you, seem to connect the dots. Rarely is it even the hardest thing numerically speaking you’ve ever done, and often it surprises your climbing buddies who can’t believe you haven’t put the thing to rest.

Getting the Valley Experience - Jessa Goebel

Getting the Valley Experience - Jessa Goebel
May 17, 2012 -

The first time I visited Yosemite was on a road trip with my climbing team, Team Texas, summer 2000. We were just passing through on our way from Nationals in Portland, OR to Bishop, CA. As soon as Nationals were done we all packed into the van (16 people and a large dog in a 15 passenger van) and started our drive through the night. We arrived just as the sun was rising and spent the day bouldering in the historical Camp 4. I had never been anywhere like the Valley and at that age and was very overwhelmed...
