10,000 Miles For My First Time - Nina Williams

10,000 Miles For My First Time - Nina Williams
July 03, 2012 -

South Africa; a land of established beauty and miles of untapped potential. I’ve seen pictures, I’ve watched videos, and I’ve heard first-hand accounts of the bouldering that I’ll be exploring for the whole month of July. But everything I’ve heard will be nothing compared to the experience. It’s something I can’t even imagine right now! The farthest I’ve lived from my birthplace in New England is right here in Colorado; I’ve never been outside our country’s borders. I’ve spent the past few months preparing myself physically with my trainer Kris Peters and I feel stronger than I have in...

After being fortunate enough to attend the Rock and Ice photo camp and being able to climb with some of the best athletes in the world; I found myself in a unique position of having a few days off before I had to jam it back to the Ol' Junk town for work. So what was a boy to do...? Answer... get a tank of gas and go travel around for a bit. I was lucky enough to find myself with a climbing partner that had a few extra days in the country so we decided to try...

Espania, Mallorca - Guntram Jörg

This year I already spend 1 month in Spain climbing around Lleida and Madrid. Not with the rope ;) only bouldering. The potential for Bouldering around Lleida is really good and we had an amazing time there... Check my movie Spain Special. This month I got invited to the Balearic Mallorca Masters. I had a great time together with Sean, Sasha and Courtney and of course with all my Spanish friends from the Belmez Face Brigade. As I haven't been climbing inside at all in the last half year I was really surprised grabbing the...

Marble Fork Expedition to Kayak the Steepest Mile - Forrest Noble

25 years ago to bag a cutting edge first D in kayaking all I needed was to have a crack crew of boaters a taste for adventure and be able to figure out the put in and take out bridges and set your shuttle. 15 years ago we would break out the chainsaws and find tributaries of creeks that required days or even weeks of cleaning to open up a runnable path through the waterfalls and rapids to nab the first descent. In the past decade finding a first D has meant hiking ungodly amounts of miles...

Colorado Fires - Sierra Carroll

Colorado Fires - Sierra Carroll
July 01, 2012 -

It has been a very interesting past few weeks. Following my last blog post I have had some great climbing days and some not so great days with weather and adventures just as crazy. This past two weeks there have been two times that my plans to go outside climbing have been foiled by fires in Colorado. The past week the majority of the people around where I have been living have been packing their belongings and preparing to evacuate as needed. With the sporadic changes that the fire right outside our city made this week there were thousands...

I recently competed in the Climbing World Cup at the Teva Mountain Games held in Vail, Colorado. I took 13th and had a blast! I love the atmosphere of world cups, you get to meet new people and experience new cultures. All the competitors are insanely strong and it's incredibly inspiring. The weekend after the Teva Games I competed in USAC Divisionals in Portland, Oregon. I placed 1st in difficulty and 2nd in speed. I am currently at the pre-nationals training camp in Atlanta, Georgia. I am training with some of the strongest competitors from all across America. We...
