The fabled Amuri Tepui boasts what may be the most overhanging big wall on the planet, and armed with some Neon kneebarring pads and a few pairs of downturned Team Five Tens, we hope to drop-knee oor way to the top of this monster!

I'll be the first to admit it: I am a born-and-bred gym rat. For 5 or 6 years I climbed almost exclusively on plastic, and even afterwards only in New England. But once I moved to Colorado a whole new world opened up to me, including the opportunity for a trip to Hueco Tanks in El Paso, Texas!

Once I arrived in Seattle I was overwhelmed by how beautiful Seattle was, even though I was drenched by the rain. Soon enough I came back to reality, there is a comp tomorrow morning but not just any comp.. Division 1 Championship for ABS season. This was the first time that there is a Divisions for ABS season (usually it is regionals then to nationals).

This weekend was the first youth Divisional Championship for ABS (bouldering). I traveled to North Carolina to compete for one of 7 bids to nationals. The comp was held at Triangle Rock Club, a gym I hadn’t been to before. I was really psyched going into the competition because I really like to see all of my friends from USA Climbing. I had high expectations of myself and planned on using this comp as a way to see how much stronger I have gotten.

The final of the German Boulder series in 2011 took place in Überlingen, a nice place next to the Bodensee. It was traditional. Unfortunately, the weather was not as good as the last years, so the organizers had some problems with the competition walls. The holds were wet; also the mats were wet, so that the climbers got wet shoes, when they started in a boulder problem. The atmosphere between the climbers was not good. The competition was a disaster.

I was very happy because the weather was very nice for rock climbing the last 2,5 Monthes. Much, much better than the last two years. So didn’t spend much time indoor and drove to my projects very often. That was a lot of fun all the time! A lot of night climbing during the week with headlamps and scary boulders with a lot of crash pads. Also I was very lucky to send some awesome projects! I will write later about this...

Go big or go home? Yes!!! This season is starting out as the season of highballs. I've been subconsciously attracted to the tallest, raddest boulders around!Every climb I've been doing lately has been at least 18 feet off the deck, it's exhilarating to be pushing my limits at such heights and my sights are only being set higher.

It’s a new semester here at Tech and time to get going again, but of course, not just in school. It is now officially the season for a whole lot of big bouldering comps. The small, local comps are over with, and now it’s time to kick it into high gear.

I competed in my first competition when I was 11 and I can’t even count how many comps I’ve done since then. At times I have become disillusioned with competing and have even walked away from the world of comp climbing all together for brief spells. But I always find myself being drawn back in, because, to put it simply, I love it. I love having something to train for and I gain a great deal of motivation from having a goal...

It´s more or less a route! 12 moves, over six meters leading to the top. Though it´s only 12 moves long it requires a weird kind of endurance. Every single move is hard and there is no possibility to rest or even catch a breath instead of getting a green or blue face. The size of the holds (which is from the beginning not very big) become even smaller the higher you climb. Everything is needed. The very obvious thing you should bring along is a lot of finger strength especially...

Over New Years took a quick trip down to Arkansas to check out some new development opportunities. Originally the plan was to spend several weeks around the Sam's Throne area and help develop new routes. Unfortunately our trip was cut short to a week due to sickness and work schedules. The trip was almost postponed but we rallied at the last minute and blasted south to warmer and sunnier conditions.

So far the winter months have been going very well. I have been getting out and climbing a ton. The first weekend of December my friend Morgan and I decided that we were spending too much time sitting around and we needed to go into the mountains. We decided to try the cables route on Longs Peak in the winter.

Every time I get on a train in an airport, the kind that take you from one terminal to another, I challenge fellow climber travelers to see who can hold a 90 degree lock off position, off of the bar that people are supposed to hold on to...

With exuberant nature, a beautiful river with dark ice cold waters and rock formations of outstanding beauty, the area known as "Serra do Cipó" attracts tourists from around the world. This small town, located 60 miles from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil has a hot rainy summer and a dry warm winter, ideal season for climbing. Besides the large limestone formations of up to 200 feet tall, it's easy to find waterfalls and canyons, which attracts more practitioners of outdoor sports such as basejumpers, canyoneers, cyclists, parachutists, and more.
