Three more weeks to go and then that’s it! I will officially graduate from my high school career and then I’ll be off to Colorado State University. As the date approaches, I can’t help but reflect on the things that have made me who I am and have led me to this point. Things, of course, meaning climbing. Climbing has done so much more for me than give me some rock hard abs, it’s changed me. I used to be insecure, introverted, and not very athletic. In many ways I’m still very insecure, but climbing had taught me...
In my last post I mentioned at the end that I had a minor finger injury. Well as it turns out, that "minor injury" kept me out of climbing for a full month, and for the last three weeks I have been working my way back up to where I was. It's painful because of how badly I want to be where I used to be (stronger than ever before, and sending much more than I have) and I have to climb on only jugs at a very low level, or I will re-injure my finger. So far it...
My life has been absolutely crazy since my last blog post. The love of my life, my ex-girlfriend who i had been with for 4 years, broke up with me. Heartbroken, i went into a depression period for a while. In perfect timing, i went to Europe with my brother Carlo. The trip was awesome! We went to Fontainebleau, France where i was able to send Atresie (8a/v11) along with Conviction (8a). Even in heinously bad conditions we both ALMOST managed an ascent of the classic Fred Nicole 8a called Karma, but sadly we didn't have enough days to...
Its been a while since I have made a post on here so this is just a little post about what I have been up to recently and what I plan on doing in the future. Including recent Media appearances and also a Video I made about my recent first ascent in NZ.
This past weekend the USA Climbing Regional Championships took place around the nation at a host of different climbing gyms. This year Earth Treks (Rockville) hosted the Capital Region championships with over 100 athletes vying for invitations to the Division 5 championships in Watertown, MA this June. A number of people had expressed interest in what it took to put together and pull off this competition, I’d like to take the opportunity to recap the preparation and route setting that lead up to and through the event.
After some unseasonably snowy weather, Spring has finally come to Colorado! I have been trying to take advantage of the mostly gorgeous weather to get outside and climb. I have been working at a new job recently, and I am finding that when I do have time to climb, I am much more motivated to do so. As a result, I have actually managed to get some great climbing done over the past few months.
