It was a regular, small comp- with a twist. The redpoint at the beginning went as usual, with some interesting problems and some psyched local climbers. It was great being able to climb with my sisters again as well as see many of the climbers that I grew up with that I hadn't been able to see all year. It was a pretty chill comp- my favorite kind- where everyone works together to get psyched and send. I was really excited to hear that both...

This is my first blog post here on the Five Ten community site, and I'm stoked to be here. First, a quick introduction. My name is Dustin Glasner, and I'm a climber from the DC Metro Area. I'm 24 years old and have been climbing for about two years, and I got serious about it and started training about a year ago. I work at Earth Treks in Rockville, and I climb there 5 or 6 times a week. I also work a full time job as a biologist, but that's a different story....

I always tell people, yes there is some driving, and yes there is some hiking, but wait until you see the rock there! After six years of climbing and hiking in the summer I still feel the same way. Last week I gave Jimmy Webb a tour and he put down one of the best projects I knew of, The Ice Cave. I've put some effort into this amazing line for a few years. The weather and work-life balance has been rubbish of late but I still have managed to get out and grab a few personal firsts (and some lasts).

The last time I blogged for the 5.10 Community website it was spring; and you know Scotland, the weather is nothing if it is not erratic, it was super hot. The conditions were beyond what you would want for hard sending but it was fabulous to get the warmth after a long cold winter spent indoors working my socks off at TCA Glasgow.

The village and crag of Hell has not only an extraordinary name, also the rock is special - granite conglomerate! The steep, powerful routes really fitted my style and I made some quick repeats...

Spring usually signifies life, rebirth, flowers, etcetera. For me - it was death. Spring semester 2012 was complete mayhem. School is alright if you stay on top of things, but as soon as those things start to slip, it creates a landslide of work you are constantly battling to try and get to the top of. I'm normally on top of the hill, but after March madness, I was left scrambling to get back up all semester long.
