Well hello there! This is my first blog post here on the Five Ten community site, and I'm stoked to be here. First, a quick introduction. My name is Dustin Glasner, and I'm a climber from the DC Metro Area. I'm 24 years old and have been climbing for about two years, and I got serious about it and started training about a year ago. I work at Earth Treks in Rockville, and I climb there 5 or 6 times a week. I also work a full time job as a biologist, but that's a different story....
The past few weeks have seemed like a whirlwind adventure. During my last couple of weeks in Scotland, I mostly saw family and got a feeling of what farm work is like over there.
I’ve spent a lot of time lately thinking about the upcoming comp season. This past year was hugely successful for me. I placed 8th in the Canadian National Bouldering Championship, 8th overall in Canada and got to attend my first world cup event. (Oh, and of course joined the Five Ten Team!!!) I learned a lot from my coach and teammates that I trained with. The biggest success of all was that I worked really hard at being open to listening to others and what they felt I was doing wrong. Constructive criticism. When I was having a hard...
Hi guys I have finally decided to write a personal blog http://nikyceria.blogspot.it/ where I can post my climbing adventures, nay my bouldering adventures. maybe it sounds better! My first article regards august, although it isn’t the best bouldering period. It has passed a lot of time since I wrote my last blog on the web and this is due to some facts. The first reason is because I stopped my rock climbing in April in order to dedicate myself to study, whereas I had the high school final exam in June and it has gone well enough. The second...
Where do I go now? I don't know how or why or where they come from. But they are here. Calling. Have called. Did call. I know where I was and what I did. March. March. March. Like a Hobbit into Mordor. Will they call again? Will I throw the ring in the fire? My passion? My precious? My burning desire? My head is filled with never ending numbers. Integrals. Derivatives. Gaussian Eliminations. Questions. Who was Gauss? Why was he eliminated? To illuminate the dark corners, the caves and roofs lurking in the forest of my...
The Scottish summer continues to be mostly wet and I am fighting hard to be fit and strong for my first big trip of 2012: the honeymoon/climbing road trip from Rumney and the New and Red River Gorges. I simply cannot wait! I have still been getting out on rock far too infrequently for my liking, work and other commitments remain high on the agenda but things are switching in the right direction. My work days are also the hard training days. Perhaps inspired by the recent London Olympics, I have been putting a lot...
