I subconsciously made the decision to visit these rocks as often as I could in...

Well, my bouldering season has ended (sort of) but on so many high notes and with much more potential to achieve. The last day of my Hueco vacation in January produced a flash of Rubber Chicken aka Van Dame (V10), bringing the trip damage to two V11’s and six V10’s over the course of three weeks. I took a break for another couple of weeks before returning to Texas for the Hueco Rock Rodeo, and then geared myself up for ABS Nationals the weekend after!

The area up there has mainly two boulders; the Hillside Boulder and the Millennium Boulder. As I went up to this new area, I only had one boulder in mind. This boulder is called Bambi. I met a very nice man, Josh Larson, who is on the U.S.A. climbing team. The competition had 50 problems for the qualifying round. The qualifying round was hard because the level of the climbers was higher than the last competition. I was amazed to flash problem 50 and this made me very pleased with the qualifying round. After three hours of climbing, I completed six problems beyond problem 41. This score...

At the beginning of this month I went to Red Rocks, NV. Which is one of my favorite places to climb. I love the sandstone, the amazing incut crimps, and the proximity to Las Vegas. Although the weather was much cooler than I expected, especially in the canyons. I was able to climb at the Kraft Boulders, in the sun, every day. Paul and I were shown some new development up Gateway Canyon. One of the new problems is a fun little V6 called Three Steps to the Door. I got the FFA!

I've watched all the recap videos and immediately put on my list of must do competitions. I was feeling pretty good when I bought my plane tickets. I just had a great trip out in southeast where I did some of my hardest sends and I just won youth ABS Divisionals. Only problem was that every other strong person on the planet flew out to climb at this thing too. In the midst of moving from Fort Collins to Boulder, Beau and I decided to drop our boxes and high-tail it to the desert for some New Years festivities and sending. It turned out to be a great decision, as the trip started out strong and is finishing up even stronger, and I still have a couple more climbing days before we have to leave!

This Christmas holiday a good chunk of my family and I went out to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I think I go to Tennessee every holiday I possibly can which is awesome because the southeast has a lot of great quality sandstone. Most of my family that came down for the holiday also rock climb, so it's not your average family Christmas where you go do the family stuff as fast as possible then book it to the closest crag.
