Monster Mash - Nicholas Milburn

Monster Mash - Nicholas Milburn
November 08, 2012 -

It's that time of year again. Halloween, candy for all, tummy aches, sugar rush and ROCK CLIMBING! My gym, Stone Moves, held its second ever Monster Mash comp. How often do you get to dress up in costume an rock climb? Well, I guess you could do it all the time, but this way you won't look like a fool. Some of the best costumes I saw were the Sand Bagger and Campusing. I dressed up as Five Ten and shaved my head in an interesting pattern to give my costume a bit of a boost. Most...

One of a Kind: 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell - Stephen Meinhold

One of a Kind: 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell - Stephen Meinhold
October 16, 2012 -  Stephen Meinhold

24 hours of horseshoe hell is truly an amazing event and a test of mental and physical toughness, there is nothing else like it out there. A grassroots, hometown event executed flawlessly by event coordinators. This was my first trip and a quick one, but along with my partner Brent Perkins, we finished 2nd overall in the team event being taken down by tough conditions and the power team of Sonnie Trotter and Tommy Caldwell. This year over 40 competitors completed over 100 pitches during the 24 hour period.

Last weekend I flew out to Seattle to compete in the Unified Boulder Championship at Stone Gardens. First thing that I need to point out is how organized the UBC guys are. They emailed a packet out to the competitors that was the best comp packet I have ever seen. I didn't even know such things existed! They even gave the competitors a free Adidas jackets. Stone Gardens is a brand new gym, and its newness definitely shows. Brand new walls, brand new holds and brand new mats. The first part of the gym I saw was the isolation...

First Comp of the ABS Season - Nicholas Milburn
September 16, 2012 -

I just competed in the first comp of the new ABS season. It was held at my home gym, Stone Moves! Once again, Stone Moves put on an awesome comp. Great routes, psyched volunteers and superb music, just as always. That guy John Muse sure knows how to host a comp. My coach, Jon Perz, texted me the wrong time, so I was a bit late, but other than that everything ran smoothly. A bunch of Team Texas kids came down to compete, which was cool. I usually don't see those guys until divisionals rolls around.Once I got...

Divisionals!!! - Nicholas Milburn

Divisionals!!! - Nicholas Milburn
June 29, 2012 -  Nicholas Milburn

I recently competed in Divisionals in Grapevine, Texas. The comp was held at Summit which was a nice change. I haven't been up there since the Dallas area left my division. Summit held a good comp. It was run well and the routes were good. There were two route in qualifiers. Q1 was straight forward, but it had two cruxy sections that gave people a lot of trouble. Q2 was a big step up. It wasn't bad until the roof section. Few people made it through the roof and nobody pulled the lip (at least in my age group)....

Anasazi Arrowhead Review - Ferran Guerrero Hervas
June 26, 2012 -

The Anasazi Arrowhead is a very technical cat feet, since I discovered the hand of Five Ten put it in the bedroom for those problems that bouldering when I need a good score and go up those inches that I need to get to a dam . Here we analyze the performance of this cat feet. On the website of Five Ten will find this description: "The elite team of climbers has only praise for the adjustment of Arrowhead and performance. Built on our Anasazi last 4G immediately feel the difference at the base of the shoe making toe...
