First round of the regionals has just finished!!!! Just got back from competing in the first comp of the season. It was the first round of the Regional Sport climbing Series that was held in Rotorua, NZ on the 13/2/2011. I competed in the Under 18 category where I topped all three of my climbs, which gave me a good 1st place!!! I am looking forward to the rest of the comps this season but I also cant wait until the season is over and I can get back on the real rock and concentrate on that...
The first German competition took place at the Munich Trade Fair last weekend. This event is popular with many people. Some just like to watch the climbers others like to participate. But everybody likes the intoxicating atmosphere. Never before did so many women participate in a German Boulder competition. More than 30 women came for bouldering and having fun. In the qualifying round the boulders were not too hard, but varied. This changed with the next round, in the semi-finals. It got harder and harder to reach the top.
Last weekend I competed in my first competition of the year! I traveled to Canmore, Alberta with four of my favourite people from Vancouver (Sarah Austin, Jamie Chong, Sean McColl and Alannah Yip) to compete in the second Western TDB local of the season. As there are only three local competitions out west this year, and points from all three locals will be taken into consideration when applying for the Canadian team, it was no surprise that the gym was PACKED.
A couple pitches in Feb. This year's Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival is going on all next week. Jasmin Caton, Sean McColl and I are all giving presentations on the last night of the fest: Feb 19. So, if you find yourself on the west coast of BC, come by for some beer and pictures of rocks and mountains. Putting slideshows together is a good opportunity for me to do a little life inventory: goals accomplished, goals ahead, and lessons learned.
After I got all my new camera stuff for our 3 month trip together i went with Hadi for two days to Chironico. We had amazing conditions and we got into a great flow of sending, filming and photographing. The first day I did Tricky 1.go, Miss Schweiz 3.go and Confessions of a crap artist flash and the second day I did Sollbruchstelle f.Asc, Dr. Pinch and nearly Boogalagga after getting stuck with my left hand going for the last side Crimpa. Now we are getting ready to take off, Font is next !!!
