HUECO by Alex Sosa Manon

HUECO by Alex Sosa Manon
January 06, 2011 -  Alex Sosa Manon

Some details on the trip to Hueco. From December 19th-31st me and Brian Kim went down to Hueco.  First arrived at the ranch, really psyched... but too late to climb.  So we got our room set up and all.

The next day was much brighter. The clouds had gone, the sky was blue, everything was set for a great day. Driving baby car up the windy valley to El Balco de l'ermita, we were reminded at every turn at how much potential still remains in this incredible place. The day was spent onsighting and flashing some of the areas classic routes, including Laura (the best route I have climbed in Margalef) and El Vuite Art. As the sun set we joined friends in the bar for a birthday drink – a fine end to the day... ...

Winter Wonder Hell

Winter Wonder Hell
January 02, 2011 -  Colette McInerney

I gave up on camping in the winter a few years ago. We had gone on a trip to the Southeast and though I had family in the general area it wasn’t close enough to keep us from camping out of the car and peeing behind frosty bushes in the morning.

Queen Victoria Spire - Sedona, AZ

Queen Victoria Spire - Sedona, AZ
December 30, 2010 -  ClimbAddict Designs

A short note on my first time climbing in Sedona. I am on my first long-term road trip: November through April 2010-11.  Wintering in the southwest instead of hunkering down in Manhattan - how could I NOT have done this before!? My destination to kick off things was Joshua Tree, CA, but along the way.... I stopped in Flagstaff to visit a friend.  Since I was doing that, another friend said "Bivy at my place, and I'll take you up a spire." - how could I NOT have done this before!?

Yanshuo 5 - What it was all about

Yanshuo 5 - What it was all about
December 30, 2010 -  Keller Rinaudo

Keller unsuccessfully tries to sum up Ethan and his trip to China. I read once that words often shape the realities they are meant to describe. I think that's why it's so hard to put into writing experiences that really challenge us, scare us, and motivate us. We can only see and understand things through the filter of language, and often we lack the vocabularies to describe things that inherently make no sense to us. Ethan and I decided that I should write one last blog describing and summarizing our trip to Yangshuo, China. How am I doing so...
