The World Cup Round 5 in Val Di Sole, Italy showed some great racing. Jess Stone finished with a great solid result in 14th place.

Two years ago, the World Championships were held here - Rachel won the womens and Gee won the mens and the famous Sam Hill drift crash at the finish where he'd have stormed it! I remember watching it on freecaster and thought the track looked awesome – these guys definitely made it look easy.

More new rocks and new adventures have come into play!  The last year has proven to be a new development wave of explorative breakthroughs.  All across the west coast, fellow rock pioneers have been on the forefront of fresh stone establishment.  From the high altitude granite of Lincoln Lake, Colorado to the Sierra Buttes granite in Lake Tahoe, California and down to Browse boulders in Saint George, Utah.  One cannot doubt the massive amounts of unexplored granite in the west.

It’s that time of year again. The time when everyone in the climbing industry strolls into Salt Lake City. And I am no exception. I love the chance to see friends and meet new people. OR is a crazy event which is a great time every year. I was planning on competing at the OR competition but a sprained ankle got in the way. I know it sounds like a huge set back but really my ankle will be fine.

I have been in Rocklands, South Africa for just about three weeks now. The weather has been quite back and forth from hot to cold to rainy and most everywhere in between. Fortunately, I have had quite a few fair weathered climbing days over the past few weeks to keep my complaining to a minimum.

At the beginning my idea was to deliver the supplies that I’ve brought to the Hushe kids, but after I’ve been invited to stay on Kanday village for a few days, I realized that this village have less support than Hushe, since it’s a place that most of the expeditions pass without even stop. Kanday is the last village before Hushe, with near 160 habitants split between the old and new zone, since half of the village was destroyed by a giant rock fall in the year of 2000.

Squamish Summer Trip

Squamish was the perfect place to beat the summer heat. The forest canopy provides continuous shelter from sun or rain (because it rains year round), keeping the boulders dry and cold. In Squamish friction is your best friend and a trip should be planned around good weather reports.

Shon Bollock fills us in on the latest from the Shasta Boyz and shares a video of the 2nd annual Shastarama Downill Race.

"Life has been very hectic with the Wet Dreams Haymaker tour about to start here in Cali and has been doing very well on the road thus far. I will be posting more photos of the events from Arizona and Oregon/Washington soon. Besides organizing that, I have been working super full time and doing some filming gigs on the side.
