We've been climbing up at Serra da Piedade, home to Amnesia.  At first sight, the mountain which the boulders sit seems small but when driving up you quickly realize that the mountain is huge and littered with rocks.  We walked around for a couple hours and found numerous boulders of shapes and sizes- roofs, aretes, slabs, big, small, you name it...

Sinon le cadre est magnifique: les vautours, les paysages, les falaises, les colonnettes,...

Yesterday, after a long drive to the huge metropolis of Belo Horizonto on Sunday, we got an early start to check out a classic power boulder from Felipe called Amnesia.  I warmed up and checked the moves... I was surprised on how the boulder suited my style.  Compression, steep, about 45 degrees, and small holds.  It's 8 moves long so it's quick to the point.  You have to hit the moves perfectly with no hesitation.  Bouldering at it's finest.

I was more (outwardly) competitive, especially around other strong kids my age. I think I said some pretty stupid and egotistical things back then. Luckily I can’t remember what they were. Another great weekend with a visit to Italy for the iXS Downhill Cup in Pila. We last visited Pila in 2005 to watch Vanessa Quin take part in the World Cup there. The WC track has not changed much but it was still a fast and demanding course. After dominating her rivals in qualifying, Tahnée went on to take the Junior win in the finals.

One of the first things I was taught as a young figure skater and downhill skier was "where the eyes go, the body will follow." It is a truism for any sport. If you are tearing down a single-track on your mountain bike and you see an obstacle such as a tree or rock and you stare it down, you will be rewarded with a head-on collision.
