At Last we can go outside and climb!

At Last we can go outside and climb!
January 20, 2011 -

When its bad its bad But when its good its really good. Sheffield weather! Cold, snowy, damp, humid, foggy or just torrential rain is pretty common around this time. But it can be awesome, maybe the variation is worth having, just to appreciate how good it is when it is good.

Positive Aspects of Climate Change – Bouldering in Zillertal - Tobias Haller

Positive Aspects of Climate Change – Bouldering in Zillertal - Tobias Haller
December 26, 2010 -  Tobias Haller

It’s December 23rd and we got about 10 degrees in Innsbruck/Austria. Usually this is the time when we either go skiing in deep powder or move ourselves to Ticino, Bleau, Bishop or Hueco to climb in good conditions. This year however we can go back to our projects in Zillertal and find them perfectly dry in windy conditions. About a week ago I fell off the very last move of Drischiebl (V12) and unfortunately couldn’t finish it that day due to wet top holds and a massive pump. You’ve probably seen the funny little video of this poor effort...

Steve McClure's Visit to Gran Canaria

Steve McClure's Visit to Gran Canaria
December 09, 2010 -

December in Britain can be dreary! With flights at a mere £100 and a forecast of a sunny 20 degrees Gran Canaria looked appealing. A family holiday with a beach priority but enough rock to keep insanity at bay. However, we were met by some of the worst weather on Gran Canaria in years, torrential rain and gale force winds. Schools were closed and buildings were blown down. In true British style I opted to climb on this day!

The Petzl Rock trip this year was to Mexico. They just keep getting better and better! This was a big trip with some serious crankers and some of my best buddies, Joe Kinder, Dave Graham and Said Belhaj.

Fed up of waiting for conditions I decided to just have fun. For the last week the sun has been shining and the sky blue here in Fontainebleau but it hasn’t been especially cold. I had got bored of waiting for perfect conditions and so decided to just climb a lot! Also the one climb I really wanted to do this week, Delire Onirique had fully shut me down again, not sure why but it just feels too hard. I will have to get better at rock climbing and try it next time!

Three from Font by David Mason
October 19, 2010 -  David Mason

Three 8's in a day in the forest of Fontainebleau. After 2 weeks in Fontainebleau some good weather finally decided to arrive! Having had two rest days enforced by thin skin and rain I was itching to go, probably a little to itching (I now have no skin again)!! First stop was l’apparemment, a brilliant 8a at Apremont that requires a whole lot of squeeze and some ninja skills with the feet. I tried this in February but couldn’t fathom a sequence that would get me to the top and with low levels of motivation...
