Welcome to my Hood - Guntram Jörg

Welcome to my Hood - Guntram Jörg
November 30, 2011 -  Guntram Jörg

So far this fall was amazing for me.... After a great month climbing in the Silvretta mountains i could do one of Austria's hardest and most known test piece Anam Cara. I already thought that should be the highlight of this season but i was completely wrong. In the next month I repeated  some of the more unknown hard boulders in Swiss

This past summer I was fortunate enough to take a two month trip of a lifetime to Europe with Alex Johnson, Josh Levin, and Nick Milburn. We boarded a plane in Atlanta the day after U.S. Nationals (which went very well) and flew across the Atlantic Ocean, landed in Munich, and began our European climbing trip.

Over Thanksgiving break a crew and I went to Joe’s Valley Utah for five days of bouldering. The crew consisted of Paul “P.Diddy” Dusatko, Andrea “I’m not barfy” Trujillo, Zach “Centerfold” Lerner, Gentle Ben and me. The forecast looked perfect; dry and cool. After a grueling week of setting for an ABS Local competition and a couple weeks of trying and falling off projects I was tired and in need of a vacation. I went without a clear goal in mind; I was just psyched to climb on beautiful sandstone boulders.

All I could think about today in school was to send this route in the gym. I was looking at the clock, seeing minutes going by. It felt like every class period was so long. When the last bell rang to get out of school, I went straight to the climbing gym and got on this new v6. It starts out on two big slopers and you have to hand foot match with your right foot and hand. Then you have to turn your body-- so that your back is faced to the wall and then fall into...

Smith Rock! - Riley Joyce
November 29, 2011 -

I finally went out to Smith Rock to get back into lead climbing for the day. Outdoor climbing is my favorite: just focus on the moment, breathing, and what is around you. Climbing in a gym is cool, with its own sick soundtrack to get you psyched. But outdoors is super peaceful-- you can hear the birds chirping softly, and super focus on your technique. I was feeling very strong with my Anasazis on; their thick rubber soles were perfect for Smith, and gave me great heel hooks on the technical ascents. And I totally got...

2nd ascent of this Adam Ondra's route in Masone(Northern Italy)! Last Tuesday I went to check out this nice winter crag near Lecco named Masone! Plan of the day was trying the moves of Adam Ondra's 2009 route Masoniamoci 8c+/9a(maybe 9a he says) and see if it could have become a possible project for the near future!...On my first day on it I was able to do all the single moves of the starting boulder problem but couldn't even link two of the hardest together. And I barely did the crux move, a deadpoint move from...
