Out of Arkansas - Chris Schulte

Out of Arkansas - Chris Schulte
March 21, 2012 -

We’re pulling out of Arkansas in the middle of a storm that appears to stretch from Mexico to Canada. The weather, though hot, has been pretty fair for the most part, even a bit of wind as this storm approached. This was my second trip to Arkansas, and like my first, the weather was unseasonably warm, but not enough to shut us down entirely. Again we visited a handful of unique crags, and again I was surprised by the similarity of some of the sandstone in Arkansas to the sandstone I climbed on in southern Colorado when I first...

If Only - Ryan Silven

If Only - Ryan Silven
March 21, 2012 -  Ryan Silven

Exactly one year ago today I returned from my first trip to Fontainebleau, France. If I had my way I never would have left. I took some footage from the trip and together with Jon Glassberg and Alton Richardson we made a little movie of my time there. There wasn't any rhyme or reason to the boulders I filmed, they were just things that looked nice, or were different than the standard Font fare, or I just happened to have the camera ready. The pictures in this post are courtesy of France and it's beautiful pastoral countryside. ...

Should Have Gone Climbing - Jen Vennon

Should Have Gone Climbing - Jen Vennon
March 21, 2012 -

Last weekend I had the opportunity to get outside and go climbing and I didn’t take it. Dumb I know.Instead I decided to stay home and work on a nagging bathroom revamp that had been dragging on and seriously needed finishing. I hated to spend a perfect sunny day spackling, painting, and fiddling with wires but it had to get done.

Red River Gorge 2012! - Michaela Kiersch
March 20, 2012 -  Michaela Kiersch

I recently went on a weekend trip to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky! I was really psyched to head down, it was my first trip of the season.  I also wanted to know where I was at, as far as training.  The sport season has just begun for me, considering ABS Nationals ended just a few weeks ago.  Training for rope has been intense so far, I don't have much time before Adult SCS Nationals in early April.

ABS Nationals 2012 - Michaela Kiersch
March 20, 2012 -  Michaela Kiersch

I'm a little late on the update, ABS Nationals was a little more than 2 weeks ago. I was really psyched to compete at this competition and to see all of my great friends in USAC. The qualifying round was interesting for me. I woke up early that morning, due to nerves and excitement; but because of this, I was left anxiously waiting around the lobby until I could finally head over to ISO. After a good warm up, it was my turn to climb. The first two problems went really well, I flashed both of...

Spring is Coming also to Chamonix - Martina Cufar

Spring is Coming also to Chamonix - Martina Cufar
March 19, 2012 -

It's snowing today…that's why I have time to write. Last two weeks there was a spring time also in Chamonix. Before we were searching it in Buoux, but had to come back earlier because Tommy got ill:-)We were still skiing a bit, but with so high temperatures it feels strange to put ski boots on. Five ten feels better! The rocks around here got dry and we got out from our “winter holes”, artificial walls. We realized that climbing on “plastic” doesn’t contribute much to the achievements on the “Haute – Savoie” rock. Climbing here is really technical, so...
