Finally Some Rock Climbing - Kinchen Packer

Finally Some Rock Climbing - Kinchen Packer
April 03, 2012 -

Over the last several weeks I have been climbing outside a lot. First in early march I headed out to Hueco for the rock rodeo. It was my first rodeo and it was a great time. A week or so latter spring break started and my friend Liam and I headed out to Gilman Tunnels for the day. After an epic getting across the river we where soaked, after much procrastinating we decided to get on a 12c called Puddy Girl. However after hanging out in the shade for so long and being wet to start with we...

I am a Norwegian competition climber from Norway who loves to climb, train and compete. I am a lead climber, but I also compete in boulder comps, because it's a great experience. Even though I look at my self as a competition climber, I try to climb outdoor as well. Nothing is like a day out in the sun climbing some beautiful routes.

Early Spring Raging - Canyon Cain

Early Spring Raging - Canyon Cain
April 02, 2012 -

So for my first blog post I thought I might just start off with a recap of what I have been doing lately. Over the winter it was pretty cold so there wasn't much outside climbing or highlining to be done. That is when Mason Earle got the idea to create a roof crack trainer under our deck that is about 15 foot long. It started off as just a single offwidth crack going from about 4 inches to 6 or 6.5. From there we made a thinner version of the crack trainer that was about .75 to 1...

OK, so blog efforts have been poor for a while! But there are reasons for that, which I will go into later. But basically a combination of being too busy and too injured has meant that I have done nothing of interest for an eternity. But what exactly is interesting, and what is the point of writing a blog in the first place?

Project 365 at Joshua Tree (and new shoes!) - Steve Richert

Project 365 at Joshua Tree (and new shoes!) - Steve Richert
April 01, 2012 -  Steve Richert

We are 75 days into our 365 day climbing day challenge and have climbed 20,935 feet so far. Recently we visited the Five Ten outlet in Redlands CA en route to some climbing in Joshua Tree National Park... We have been looking forward to getting our new shoes from FiveTen and visiting Joshua Tree again (this time with warmer weather!) and so we chose to combine the two and hit up the outlet as we traveled from San Diego to JTNP. We were so excited to get our grubby mitts on some new climbing and approach shoes...

PCI Clinic San Diego - Angela Payne

PCI Clinic San Diego - Angela Payne
April 01, 2012 -

Last weekend I hopped on another plane and headed West to instruct a PCI clinic at Mesa Rim Climbing Center in San Diego. This was my first time being involved in one of these events, so I was excited to see what they are all about. While the PCI (Professional Climbers International) has been around for a while, they have only started to offer youth and adult clinics in the past year. (For more info about the PCI visit www.proclimbers.com). Some of my friends had worked as instructors at a few of the first clinics,...
