Chocolate and Climbing. A Dangerous Combination! - Steve McClure

Chocolate and Climbing. A Dangerous Combination! - Steve McClure
April 21, 2012 -

Chocolate and climbing. My two big passions. Perhaps best kept separate, but I couldn’t resist a chance of combing the two! Actually I always combine the two, with some kind of chocolate always in the bag of essential climbing kit, but when I got asked to come and climb a tower made of chocolate with a chocolate waterfall I wasn’t going to refuse! The latest attraction at Alton Towers was a climbing tower modelled on the famous Rocky Bar, if you know these you’ll know they are pretty nice! The wall has real chocolate in its paint,...

Back in Europe! - Angela Payne

Back in Europe! - Angela Payne
April 21, 2012 -

On the road again….or the plane, rather. I’m in Europe now. Racking up the frequent flyer miles, probably need to buy some carbon credits to make up for all of that flying….This time I’m here for two bouldering World Cups, one in Slovenia and one in Vienna. I am traveling with Ethan Pringle and his girlfriend, which makes the entire trip possible. I don’t know that I would much enjoy coming to Europe on my own for these events, because coming to these events is, needless to say, just a little more difficult than traveling...

Beautiful Northern Scotland - Alan Cassidy

Beautiful Northern Scotland - Alan Cassidy
April 21, 2012 -  Alan Cassidy

One of the things that is truly great about British climbing is the vast variety of climbing styles that are practiced on this one island. The variety of rocks that we have here are absolutely incredible and nowhere is the variety of geology more profound than in North West Scotland. This is the most beautiful corner of the UK. Bays of silver sand beaches look out to archipelagos of small islands in one direction. In the other, heather clad rolling hills turn into dramatic mountains that climb steeply up from sea level to 1000m. ...

National Cup in Zlin (CZE) - Tomáš Binter

National Cup in Zlin (CZE) - Tomáš Binter
April 20, 2012 -

I’m quite pleased with the performance I did last weekend. 2nd round of the Czech national cup took place in Zlin. It’s been one of the best comps I’ve ever been to, thanks to the atmosphere of the crowded auditorium and what’s more, I won and got myself to the leading of the Cup.

Life on the Road - Chris Sinatra
April 20, 2012 -

Most of my posts up to now have focused purely on aspects of my trip relating to climbing. While climbing has taken up a significant share of my focus, it’s not the sole purpose for this journey and isn’t the only area where I’ve felt I’ve been able to mature and grow.I’ve now been living on the road for the past two months and while I was only planning on the trip lasting another month I’m thinking I’ll try to keep it going as long as possible. This trip has been providing some much needed perspective as...

Must'a Been High 5.13c R - Carlo Traversi

Must'a Been High 5.13c R - Carlo Traversi
April 20, 2012 -

Always psyched on switching things up, yesterday, I ventured up to the Rincon Wall in Eldorado Canyon for a go at Must'a Been High 5.13c R. I'd played around the route a bit in February and surprised myself then by top roping it clean on my 2nd try. The gear is fairly good, however it is a bit spaced out. 4 pieces protect about 50 feet of climbing, and that last piece is not so trustworthy in my opinion. Sketch factor aside, the climbing is amazing. A 20 foot slab kicks back into a...
