The Last Move and Route Climbing in Europe - Christian Muench

The Last Move and Route Climbing in Europe - Christian Muench
September 30, 2013 -  Muench

Climbing in Frankenjura, Kochel, Ceüse and Oetztal, falling on the last move in a couple of routes and getting up other ones. About two weeks ago, I spend four days in Frankenjura with Hubi and Maxime, three of which I tried “Powerplay” (8c+) besides a couple of easier routes. From the first day on I had a really good progress on the route. So I missed the jug that leads to the top section - which I can climb pretty well - just by two centimeters. But on the third day, my biceps started to hurt and I postponed...

How to Stay Healthy for Trips & Competitions - Aicacia Young

If you have a trip or comp quickly approaching, it’s time to be proactive about your health. At least 2 weeks before your event, start paying attention to the little things: sleep, hydration, diet, supplements, and training. Sleep is one of the most important times for your body to recuperate and repair all the damage that ensues throughout the day. If you skimp on your sleep, your immune system will suffer, and illness will eventually catch up to you. Do yourself a favor and get plenty of sleep at night. Hydration is another big factor...

Autumn Coaching in Fryer Belgium - Michel Kleinjan

Autumn Coaching in Fryer Belgium - Michel Kleinjan
September 27, 2013 -  Michel Kleinjan

Just back from a two day coaching trip to Belgian climbing area Fryer. Two years ago Tim Reuser (19 years) tried 2 hard routes in this very hard graded climbing area. Shingen, 8b+ and Namche Bazar 8b were too hard that time. We went back to explore the grade again. We had 1 full day and one morning to do both routes. As a coach it's my role to get the best out of a climber. In this particular case it came down to make sure Tim was able to focus 100% on the climbing of those routes. So...

Euro2013 : Munich - Sebastien Lazure
September 26, 2013 -  Sebastien Lazure

I think I got the Eurofever! I really like Europe. Its lifestyle, culture, climbing and off course the pastries! I’m now back home and just wish I could go back! The München World Cup was the last of this season and I was hoping to be able to pass to semi-finals. I was a little disappointed of not achieving my goal with all the training I did recently but I know that it’ll just get me stronger. I obviously can’t control how the other competitiors will climb or even what the setter will throw at us. I personally didn’t like...

Worlds 2013 Semis and Finals - Zoe Steinberg

Day three of the competition was completely dedicated to speed climbing. The entire speed comp was to be run during that day, which gave the sport-only climbers a day off. We (the US kids who were not competing in speed) got to sleep in, and then head over to the comp just as the practice runs were ending. The United States crushed in speed, and had seven athletes place in the top five, which included four medals! Huge congrats to John Brosler and Kyra Condie for taking home the bronze, as well as to Kayla...

The Heist - Angela Payne

The Heist - Angela Payne

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy, but not in a hectic traveling, tons of climbing sort of way. On September 11th, it started raining in Colorado, and it just didn’t stop. Three days later, the state would be left reeling in the midst of a serious crisis and the worst natural disaster I have ever personally witnessed. I luckily escaped with just a few mildly wet items, but others were not so fortunate. The damage is extensive, to say the least, and the state has a long road ahead. After 5 days...
