Silk Road Adventures - Bernd Zangerl

Silk Road Adventures - Bernd Zangerl
November 23, 2013 -

The ancient Silk Road was the means of transportation for goods from India and China to Europe. Vice versa, I wanted to transport my crashpads from Flirsch to India along this road.Of course, spotting potential boulder areas is always on my mind, but equally important on this trip was to experience the lives of the Central Asian people and the wealthy history of the region. To travel with two crashpads and a heavy backpack through regions of the world where no one has ever heard of bouldering brings its own advantages: wherever I went people were curious to know...

An Old Favorite Becomes a New Gem - Kegan Minock

Last weekend we packed up my car with pads, cookware, and a crew of 3 hooligans with the destination set to Orangeville, Utah.  The car ride was torturous as we spent most of the time gazing at the guidebook and discussing which climbs we wanted to attempt. After what seemed like forever, we pulled in to the "famous" Food Rance to pick up a few odds and ends.

A Weekend in Chironico - Alessandro Penna

A Weekend in Chironico - Alessandro Penna
November 19, 2013 -  Alessandro Penna

Once again our plans to go bouldering in Val di Mello fade away. The weather forecasts are not so bad, but snow has covered the blocks, as we see from the webcam. and we decide to drive forward Switzerland. We wake up on Sat morning with a stunning blue sky over us... we decide to have a look at the Nivo Alta sector, where we warm up and where we understand that the conditions are not the best... all is wet and humid, it must have rained during the last week... Anyway we warm up and then we move...

Which Came First, Russian or the Vodka - Tim Rose

Which Came First, Russian or the Vodka - Tim Rose
November 18, 2013 -  Tim Rose

“Nope” my text response came as quickly as the Google machine answered my question “how far is Newburyport MA from MD?” It popped back a comical 8hrs. I love climbing and competitions are fun but a weekend trip, which includes 16rs in a car, did not seem to be the best use of my time. “Well, you need to make it up for one of the Dark Horse comps”, Vasya’s text reply read clearly as I finished up a run and realized that it was a warm 60 degrees in November. I wasn’t going to be...

Win/Win: Sending Wicked Quickie and Finding Lost Carabiner - Seth Rogers
November 18, 2013 -  Seth Rogers

Last weekend, I sent one of my hardest outside projects named Wicked Quickie (12d). It’s in the Central Cave at Big Chief outside Lake Tahoe. My very first 5.10 blog was June last year and I wrote about trying this route with my friends.  I said I would come back to work the project and I did!

Whew. It’s been a busy couple of months here to say the least. With school, college apps, ACT testing, college apps, and more college apps, I’ve barely had any time to get outside during the stellar Colorado fall. Thankfully, however, I just turned in my last college app and hopefully I’ll have some more free time in the coming months.
