Summer is Over - Martina Cufar

Summer is Over - Martina Cufar
October 07, 2013 -

The last route I did up there was Or or, 7a+,250m on Pointe Lachenal (3600m)with a Romunian friend Irina. We had perfect, almost “t-shirt” conditions and I found a key pitch hard and long (I might not have seen one anchor, everything is possible), I put in all the gear and quickdraws I had! Two days later I took my sister Irena to the Arete de Cosmiques (200m max IV). This was my first guiding experience and Irena’s first climbing on the altitude. Challenges for both of us. We did it well, and were quite fast, nobody overtook us:-)...

September 2013: Back to University - Will Roderick
October 06, 2013 -  Will Roderick

School has begun! And it’s been great to catch up with friends. I also really like all of my classes this quarter – mostly engineering and science courses. While I’ve been getting adjusted to classes and life at university again, I have had the opportunity to climb both indoors and outdoors quite a bit. Last weekend, I went to Lake Tahoe for an outdoor bouldering competition. The comp was pretty informal and turned into more of a climbing hang out. It was really fun to meet up with some buddies that I hadn’t seen in a while and climb...

Weather can be so Mean – Christian Muench

Weather can be so Mean – Christian Muench
October 06, 2013 -  Muench

Weather can be so mean – but there is always a dry place. During the first weeks in September, weather did not really want us to climb in our home areas. But fortunately, even if it is raining really badly, there are still a couple of crags that stay dry. Thus, on Wednesday, September 11, Bou and I had a nice day at “Sparchen”, where I checked out “Absinth” (8c). The thing in “Sparchen” is that footholds are pretty bad and slippery there. So during my first two times bouldering in the route, I really felt like an ice dancer....

The Heist at Central Rock in Watertown, MA - Francesca Metcalf

The Heist at Central Rock in Watertown, MA - Francesca Metcalf
October 05, 2013 -

Last weekend was the Heist, the first annual all women competition held at Central Rock Watertown, MA. The gym is basically in my home town, and of course I'm always looking for a good excuse to fly home, but this competition sounded like an experience that I just couldn't miss, and something I would've loved to participate in, no matter where it was. To make it better, my boyfriend flew down with me for moral support and my sisters were both competing with me, surrounding me with my favorite people, making it a great comp already.

I have been in colorado for two months now, and finally after some extremely hot and then extremely rainy weather the conditions are finally getting better. I have been limited to climbing a lot in Lincoln Lake and Area A because most of the other areas are closed due to the flooding and the recent government shut down. Even with all the clousers I have been able to get in some good days the last couple weeks

Off to Mexico Majico after Six Months in Colorado - Diego Lopez Montull

Off to Mexico Majico after Six Months in Colorado - Diego Lopez Montull
October 02, 2013 -

The last two months I was in Colorado, I tried "White Noise" V15 at Wail Basin first. I was able to climb the boulder problem with one fall right in the middle, but the weather wasn't any good for it since it's a really hard climb with a lot of moves and sweat on the hands builds up gradually. So it's super hard to pull through one of the moves half way through the boulder problem. that's how I realized that climbing V15 during the summer is way hard, and I started going to R.M.N.P and Mount Evans more...
