Starting the summer

Starting the summer

June 20, 2010 -  Sebastien Lazure

Two weeks ago was the Canadian National in Toronto! It was such a great event and it goes pretty good for me. I was ready for it and not so much nervous. Did a fifth place finish in qualification and a fourth in final being really close to a first place! Unfortunatly very close because I just didn’t stick the finishing jug and was the closest after Sean to do it! If so, I would had 3 tops against 2 for the actual first place… but it didn’t turn out that way and I finish fourth because of one bonus zone that I didn’t get.

Couple days after the national I returned to Rumney, NH to give my 9th and last try to send a short term route project called Parallel Universe in the Monster from the ID crag. A cool 5.14a route really technical and sustain with a lot of foot work that suited perfectly my style.

The day after, I was flying to Denver CO for the world cup in Vail. With my uncle and my friend Yves we arrived five days before to try to get use to the altitude. 8150 feet in Vail. The Altitude is for sure making a difference! We climbed a little bit in Flagstaff, Mount Evans and indoor at The Spot before the comp. It was a cool trip and a hard comp for team Canada. Only sean made it to semi final. It was only my second time at a WC and it’s very motivating for training! Especially when you see how strong are the guys on the circuit. The routesetting team did an awesome job during the entire event and it gave us and the super big crownd a very nice show!

Training is started for my next trip! And I can’t wait for the next comp season!
