Tuesday was our last climbing day in Margalef. It's been cool observing the different seasons in this region. Further, it was interesting to observe the different climbers who passed through-some only for the day, others on a small trip, some locals, but only a select few returned again and again and again...
I arrived here last year and first climbed in the Finestres sector in October. On that day I tried a route called Victima Perez, at the time an unrepeated 9a by Ramon Julian. Since then, Basque climber and friend Iker Pou climbed the route for it's second ascent earlier this spring.
Throughout the last few seasons I have watched Enzo Oddo attempt this route, no...ATTACK and wage war with this route. His determination and efforts were impressive to say the least, especially on the 'bad' days where he would leave the cliff with a smile on his face and still psyched. He returned multiple times to try the route, an 8 hour drive from Nice in France with his father and climbing partner Fred. Anyway, his hard work paid off and we were fortunate enough to witness Enzo complete this route for the 3rd ascent. SO SICK!
Stay tuned for footage of this ascent and many, many, many more from the last year here in Europe in the upcoming Island films.

Until next time, when I will be back in Colorado!
