Mark and Janelle Smiley attempt the 50 Classic Climbs of North America

Mark and Janelle Smiley attempt the 50 Classic Climbs of North America

April 27, 2010 -  Mark Smiley

To be the first people to climb all of the routes made famous by a book published in 1979, The 50 Classic Climbs of North America, and broadcast the experience to the general public via a mini-series on television and “web-isodes”.

No married couple has attempted such an endeavor to climb over 164,000 vertical feet of technical terrain on a road trip that will cover over 25,000 miles. A three-man film crew will help capture HD footage that will portray the experiences of Janelle and Mark Smiley during ten of the fifty climbs.

This footage will intertwine extraordinary mountain settings with these two climbers’ commitment to pursue their passions.
