Spring Season in Canmore

Spring Season in Canmore

March 31, 2010 -  Zak McGurk

"Its a beautiful thing. I got climbing outside for the first time last week and man did it feel good. I've always loved the spring climbing in Canmore because of how rewarding it is. After climbing inside all winter, I'm always excited get out and to touch real rock. The air is fresh and crisp. The hike is usually a gruelling hour to an hour and a half straight up and I find I begin to question, why am I doing this to myself?

But then you get to the top, turn and round and see the view. The feeling of satisfaction sinks in after hiking all the way and all of a sudden it becomes worth it. You may only get 4 climbs in, 5 if you're lucky. Possibly a small nap in the sun before it's time to pack up and head home before the sun goes down. All in all those are some of the most satisfying days of climbing, however I'm glad I don't have to do that hike all summer long.
