Brian Bittner finds better weather in the...North?

March 19, 2010 -  Brett Cardamone

The weather is super nice in New England and we are hoping it will stay that way. It seems this was the winter for bad weather in the South. This held true during our trip to the Red last week, fortunately with all the overhangs we had no trouble finding rock to climb. I had been planning this trip for a while and had set some goals I felt I could reach. Unfortunately, I came down with a cold just before leaving, which only got worse after we reached Kentucky. I managed a few flashes and onsights I was happy about, but didn't have the stamina needed for Kaleidoscope (this would have been my hardest redpoint to date). I now have several projects left in Kentucky and hope to visit again in the fall. Though my cold still lingers, the weather is so nice and we'll have a crew at Rumney this weekend. I hope I can get psyched on this area as it is local and holds more projects than I could ever hope to do. Happy climbing!
