Alex Johnson competes in a black light competetion at the Spot Bouldering Series.

"The Spot Bouldering Series has been taking place this fall and winter, and they are always well attended and so much fun! This was my first year competing at the infamous Psychadelia black light comp, and I've never experienced anything like it before! All the holds are painted with glow-in-the-dark paint, and the tape glows as well. For the comp, all the lights are off except for the numerous, massive black lights. The tape art is fantastic. The finals problems were set by Carlo Traversi and Jon Glassberg, and split up the field perfectly. The problem consisted of holds swinging from chains, and PVC pipes screwed onto the wall with sandpaper glued to them... very original. The last SBS comp took place last weekend, the Gladiator Finals. It was entertaining!"
