WHISTLER, BC, CAN - AUG 13-15, 2014 - Crankworx is the biggest mountain bike festival in the World, hosting a variety of events over a 10 day period to include everything related to mountain biking including downhill racing, slalom, pump track, enduro, freeride events, video and photo contests, parties, industry expo, and an open bike park for everyone to enjoy.
TEAM NORCO INTL. - 2014 CRANKWORX WHISTLER - Jill Kintner
For Team Norco Intl. it was a tight turnaround, and a lot of miles getting from the World Cup in NY up to Whistler. Racing 3 events each, Bryn and Jill were busy from the first day onward.
Bryn competed in the Garbo DH tues, Air Dh wed, and slalom on Friday. Garbo Dh is a 12 minute downhill race from the top of the mountain to the bottom, a really long technical race that challenges skills, speed and fitness. Air Dh is a smoother jump trail, but a very tough effort to race at nearly 4 and a half minutes for the guys. Dual slalom is a shorter event where riders compete head to head on separate courses.
Jill was defending champion in 3 events and the reigning Queen of Crankworx. She nearly matched her streak, getting 1st in the Air Dh, 2nd in the pump track, and winning the Dual slalom. Overall a successful weekend and good representation for Norco and all the other team sponsors as Crankworx.com and Redbull had live coverage of the events as well as Pinkbike.com and Vital mtb showing good photo and mixed media content.
JILL KINTNER - 1st AIR DH, 2nd PUMPTRACK, 1st SLALOM - “Crankworx is my favorite event of the year. All around, it's so much fun and a mellow vibe, yet still hosts world class competition and entertaining events to watch. For me, I enjoy being so close to home in a familiar place with all our friends here. It's not really an easy week as they keep us pretty pinned between practice, racing, and socializing:) but it's good, every day on a different bike. Preparation ahead of time is pretty key for this week, so I am stoked to get a couple of wins, regroup, and head to France for World Cup finals."
BRYN ATKINSON - 6th GARBO DH, 9th AIR DH, 13th SLALOM - “We hit the ground running this year at Crankworx arriving late Sunday night, building bikes Monday morning, then practicing for Garbo that afternoon and starting racing tues. All in all it was a good week with lots of time on the bike. Whistler has everything you could want as a mountain biker and more, so it was a fun week of shredding."
